That is the one that is the Peking/Rouen supposedly. Yes I have already treated the wound, this was taken a couple of days ago. What about the other? What do you think?
The one barged through wire and stuck itself but is doing fine. That one I got from a person and is supposedly a Peking/Rouen mix. What is the other I got from the feed store?
Other than that mine thrived. It was a full time job when I tried to put it aside from the others because it was lonely and cried all the time. I did give it fruit to make sure it’s sugar was balanced because it would get lethargic now and then.
What kind of ducks are these? I know they are different (I got them separate), and that one accidentally tore through the chicken wire and stuck itself but seems okay.
Ok! I found it at a house I was showing half hatched and weak. The other eggs never hatched. They were all cold and abandoned. I stuck it under my Cochin who is still youngish and not that great of a mom but she does tend to it and tolerate it at least!
Thank you. Yes I live in Mobile, I thought there should be plenty of light here! My main concern is the girls who seemed to be maturing slow and not laying at all. I thought production lines matured quickly and I wondered if free ranging and not having them on layer feed caused them to mature...
THANK YOU. You gave the best answer! I am growing some kale, and they have a fall garden now. I put in broccoli, turnip greens, beet greens, kale, and marigolds. They LOVE it. I am adding some lettuce. I hear that kale is good for protein, I need to look into what else I can add (: May I can...
Thanks! I don’t mind only getting 3 eggs a week, but I DO mind no eggs at all. What do you think about the older ones who are not laying at all? The eggs I do get seem super rich, healthy, hard shells, and SO flavorful. But I only get 6-10 a week with two hens. I DID see one girl whos comb is...
Ok! I will try adding more protein to their diet. I don’t want to buy commercial feed for it, but my son and I like to hunt. I have fed them kills such as squirrel and snakes. If I start giving them meat at the end of the day would that be enough? I will try this. there are SOOOOO many worms in...
What I need to know is what could be the delay in laying? Is it free ranging? Slow maturity? Lighting? Does lighting matter with production breeds? Does it make them lay less because it is fall and will they lay at all? What if they dont lay at all? At what age should I hold out to? etc.
We do have rat snakes in the area, I have shot quite a few, skinned them, cooked them, and fed them to the chickens lol. However I always know when they are around because of the cardinals. Talk about an alarm system. NEVER fails. I hear it every time and shoot them out of the trees. So that...
I need to stress that there is NO WAY they are hiding eggs. I work from home and I can see them from the window most of the day. There is no place in the yard I cannot easily investigate. They don’t go into other yards, there are little dogs in each surrounding yard. I am 110% positive on the...
