Put 35 chicks out of 41 eggs into brooder a few minutes ago, 34 black ones, one white one. Monitoring temperature of brooder and incubator with more peeps hatching. Chicks stopped yelling once they had a drink and I spoke with them. Brooder at 99.
From what I know of chickens, if they can find a way to hurt themselves that seems impossible, they do. Been raising chickens 50 years plus. Started helping Grandma with her 100 RIR each spring.
Many peeps this morning. Humidity 63 Temperature 100.3. My wife and I tend to 30 plus maybe 40 chickens, when let out, chickens divide into three groups and go their separate ways on this 50 acres. Also have eight cats and one dog sleeping on couch. Probably, because I never know what I might...
Thanks. Quit my first batch of meal worms when I got sick. It seemed so hard following the directions of others. Now I'm better and found your directions, which are simple and straightforward. Will order 1,000 and start again. Thanks again.
Don't blame yourself. Have discovered chickens can get in fixes I didn't consider beforehand. When this occurs, I count it as lesson learned and to be remembered. Been learning about chickens for 50 plus years and still can't predict every danger. Have 41 eggs due tomorrow and hearing peeps. If...

Top of incubator with everything needed. Bottom has seen better days. Have 42 eggs for incubator ready soon. How would you replace bottom. All my LG's are this way. Thanks to rats in work shed, which have been eliminated.
Nature knows best. Been raising chickens since little boy. Taught by Grandma, born in 1908. Hens need roosters. This is way of life. They lay better. Hens with baby chicks are happiest. In flocks without roosters, at least several hens will try to assume roosters place.
Since getting big RIR...
