    Sebastopol Geese Eggs

Are you selling eggs or goslings? How much do you charge for the eggs; how much for the hatchling?

Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Ditto on the kind replies. BTW, got a call from my daughter-in-law in Bradford, PA. A city main line busted due to the intense cold so the water has been shut off to everyone. Their mayor has called a state-of-emergency and canceled school for the rest of the week. She's packing the kids up...

I apologize to everyone. I haven't got the hang of this yet. I click to respond to a specific post and then up underneath something totally different (like this morning where I posted about my new Sebastopol babies that are hatch and find out it arrived under the loss of a baby something--I'm...

Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

My first Sebastopol baby was born Sat night about 9:30 (first pipped the shell on Thursday afternoon---man it was PAINFUL letting the little bugger fight to get out by herself). I have tried three or four times to vent-sex and keep coming up with a girl. Tried for the final time last evening...

Yes I know about wood burning. We have a small stove in the dining room that keeps that room and the living room toasty while the rest of the house is about 60. I also sell firewood and have had a few of my regulars contact us about the fact that they are almost out. But it's been so friggin...

Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

I'm SOOOOOO excited too. I have 8 sebastopol goose eggs in the incubator. Got busy with helping with my niece's wedding during the last couple of weeks so haven't been paying much attention to the dates on the eggs even though I continued to candle them to make sure they were progressing...

Actually, the electricity went off night before last so I sent my incubator to my daughter's house (she had juice) for the night and bought a small 400 watt battery powered generator (Wagan Power Dome EX) today to cover my assets. It's supposed to have 18 hour 12 volt capacity for small appliances.

That's what I thought (using the second as a hatcher). Thought I'd take the first two out on day 27 from the automatic turning tray in the first incubator and leave the automatic turner off on the second. Then put a couple new eggs in the first incubator. I think I prefer to have the eggs...

Bummer. Makes me concerned that I might be missing any that my Sabastopol goose may be laying. It's been so friggin' cold and about to get colder again this weekend starting tomorrow. Currently have 8 eggs in an incubator in the house (first two started 1/23, one 1/28, one 1/30, two on 2/2...

Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Thank you very much for letting me know. I called her when I got home from work and left a message. I'm more interested in white, but maybe saddleback will add a little variety to the flock I'm starting. So I guess the BIG question would be are the Sebastapol or Pomaranians. Thanks...

Does anyone in Michigan have white, curly breasted Sebastapol goslings for sale? I'm in the middle of the mitten. Laurie

    We have geese!

Now that (Hardware cloth) looks like it might work. We also have rabbits--in standard rabbit cages hanging from the barn ceiling--and I noticed that several of the litters were missing babies. We had at first thought that one of the does was eating hers until I counted the other litters and...

    We have geese!

Yes. There is a swampy area in the pasture just down from the house and outbuildings that has a pond during the spring and whenever we have heavy rains. It is fenced with woven wire for the sheep and mini donkeys. That is an option when they get to be a year old or so. We also have an old...

    We have geese!

Thank you very much for replying. Having lost the first two goslings (that I hatched out myself) to raccoons, I bring these in the house at night. They live in a small portable dog kennel. It's not going to last long they're growing so fast. I bought them a small kiddie pool yesterday on my...

    We have geese!

Do you have any white goslings left? I have three, three- or four-week-old goslings (don't know if they are male, female or a mix). I'm looking for partners for one or two of them. Not really sure how to tell if they are male or female at this point, but I believe the are all male. I did...

    Sebastapol Goose Breeding Question

Picking up three sibling Sebastapol goslings after work today. I hatched out two from the eggs I incubated but a raccoon reached through the narrow bars of a portable dog kennel and killed them. Unsure what mix (all males, all females, or one of one and two of the other). Do not wish to...

Comment by 'ljw695' in article 'The All New: How to Train Your Chicken!'

I know what I want to train my Sebastopol baby goose to do. She was hatched last Friday night (SURPRISE). She knows my voice and is comfortable with me picking her up and falls asleep when I hold and pet her for a little while. I was concerned when she slept most of the time the first day or...
