I'm confused...I'm looking for dark brown egg layers and a website I found says this breed lays dark brown eggs but according to this thread they lay light brown. Which is it?
He is a RIR. ahhh me thinks me is a big dummy. I blame it on the sinus infection, bronchitis, or the flu take your pick. Oh and I would love to have a Cucko Maran.
I've been down sick for 2 weeks. I just looked out the window and saw that my roo has reddness on his feet and going up his legs. I can't tell from here but his comb looks a little pale at the tips. I also noticed that the hens are pecking at him. So how bad do yall think this is?
I would prefer to pick up with in 50 miles of my location (Paulding,GA)
I would like to get at the very least a hen and roo Cuckoo Maran. As for the Easter Eggers I can't get a straight which is the purer breed.

oh that is just terrible!!! How did you get them to go?? I am sorry you lost some of your favorites. That is just heart breaking. Go spend sometime with the remaining ones. I bet they need you right now as much as you need them.
Oh poor boy! My son gets the same symptoms but add neck pain! Yup we thought meningitis too but we always rode it out. It is scary when the temps reach 104 and the fevers last a week! Some friends were really concerned and so I took him in and they said this is just his way of dealing with...
If they are in the yard we don't even bother trying to catch them. They are way too agile. In the run it still is an effort but can be done. My husband is slowing becoming adept at it. I have seen folks use a net before.

I am freaked that my son will get pecked in the eye! He loves to hold the chickens and each time as they sit in his lap they will raise their heads and give the sideways look. He leans back but still....I like the sunglasses idea.
