I'm on my third batch of laying hens, and this time around I did the same thing I did the first time and got 6 Golden Comet chicks. The first time I had Comets they were incredibly friendly and incredible layers.
So this time I got another 6 chicks....but I'm starting to think that one may be...
we feed them layer crumbles, make sure they have water, we let them free range when its not winter so they can eat ticks, bugs, grass etc...we clean the coop, replace the wood chips, hay in the laying area etc etc. Question is do you do anything else like to keep them mite, bug free...do you...
do you think all the other chickens would have the same thing on them if it were mites? Guess we will clean out coop, dust it with DE, give her a DE bath? and get some Blue Kote to put on her? what would you do if it were your chicken?

Ridgerunner - The area that I"m going to build the coop on is slopped so drainage shouldn't be an issue (most of my land is slopped...not looking forward to leveling the area by hand....already done that twice for a shed and a swingset). This drainage, combined with a Roof on the Run itself...
