Why are my chickens pecking me constantly?
I'm about to eat a chicken. It comes at me to peck my toes when I wear flip flops. I scream and kick it gently away, but it gets aggressive and I scream and run in the house. 2 Barred rock hens haven't laid an egg since mid December???
My barred rock layed well from September 2014-March 2015. Hasn't laid since and is getting tons of light with long summer days now. July. Bright red comb, not molting, oyster shell offered. We added a dewormer to the feed. Nothing! She seems healthy and is a beautiful specimen. Not sure...- jennykpna

Lol@Michael Apple, ok then, if it's war I must win! Good point. No dogs or cats but if worms infected me or my children they would get a whooping with antihelmintics so I guess I should do the same for the chickens. I just haven't seen any of the reported signs of infection except one girl...- jennykpna

Chick died 5 left help
Sorry for your loss, I lost a chick when it was the same age. Never figured out exactly what it was, but the rest were fine and stayed alive. Clean their space well, keep the water clean, make sure no bullying occurs, and good luck with the rest of the flock. I think chicks just don't make it...- jennykpna

What about not worming unless you see it in their stool? Honestly this is so disgusting it is turning me off from raising chickens. And I really enjoy it otherwise. Can't handle helminths. Can they pass to humans through all the bird droppings in my yard?!- jennykpna

So the grain store lady has tons of birds and says she does topical ivermectin injectable solution topically to the back of the chickens neck once a year to kill everything. Then will treat for worms if she sees them in their stool. That sounds reasonable to me.- jennykpna

That is a thought. Take stool samples to check for worms. Do even people who go organic deworm their chickens usually? Any thoughts? I'll call the shop too. B- jennykpna

So I'm not sure which of those treatments would be best to start with?? I have a beautiful fat barred rock who is usually a great layer and hasn't layed since February or so. She looks eats and drinks very healthy. Maybe worms? I just don't look at them and think they look unhealthy at all...- jennykpna

Lost a hen, not sure what happened
How do you check for obvious illness? I don't think dehydrated, but I did just give water and I think she drank it. I used water from my sump pump drain that morning. I know weird, but it's ground water and I thought it would be better than fluoride ridden tap water. But the bucket I collect...- jennykpna

Lost a hen, not sure what happened
My brown leghorn was put out in the yard in the am with the other 3, and my daughter noticed shortly after the comb was bend over its eye. How cold is TOO cold for a chicken?
