Well, my lil roo finally gave a proper crow today. Had to smile at the last few days efforts!

Our wee chicks are now 12 days old. We gave em a little bit of cottage cheese and I laughed and laughed! I am glad I found this thread as I find it very informative. I thank all of you who have posted here. I now feel better about a treat or two. I had read somewhere about the cottage...
I am new to raising chickens so please excuse my ignorance. I am reading lots of how to's and advice on here. :-) I know to teach the chickies, which are due to arrive this month, how to drink and eat when we get them. Do I have to teach them to eat grit also? Someone told me to mix some...

Been lurking a long time and spend hours here. The amount of things I need to learn is huge and this is the place to learn. My hubby and I are getting 24 baby chickies of various kinds - all brown egg layers and I am so excited. Haven't had chickies since I was a kid. So I am off to do more...
