If it wasn't bad enough I lost a pullet a few weeks ago to a deadly predator aka Mareks Disease. Now I have lost an African Gosling to a gator who decided to make his way into my pond. Poor girl had no chance!!! One of the many perks of the predators in Florida!!

From first hand experience alligators do and will in fact go on land to hunt! As we speak I have one in my pond who came up out of the pond onto land to grab one of my african goslings.

This is not true!!! A chain link fence will NOT keep a gator out!!! Gators can easily go under the fencing or climb over it. If a gator wants to get in.... By God he will!!!

I was just visited by a gator who came onto my property into my pond 80ftx80ftx16ft and killed one of my geese. By law you are not allowed to kill the gator for poaching, fun etc. But by law and FWC this is considered a nuisance gator because it has threatened, harmed,bitten and or killed on...

All I have to say is how ignorant!

With that being said. I have watched hawks/ospreys pick up 10 lb catfish straight out of my pond. I'm sure they have snagged a few more that were bigger! It flew over a half acre without dropping it. Still wondering what happened to this duck!!

I know a pullet is a chicken under a year!!!!!! I guess being a bantam owner I consider a RIR full grown pullet to be much larger than my birds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was using those terms in comparison. I guess next time I need to be way more specific for people who are sooooo particular on...

That's crazy! I have an insect mister system around my coop so I don't have pest problems.

I was very specific when I said a full grown RIR pullet. As opposed to saying a full grown pullet which could have meant any type of chicken!!!!!!!!!!! It happens whether you believe so or not.

Hmmmm. Good question. I believe you when you say a little dog was taken by a hawk. Happens with chihuahuas!!!

I agree I would rule out predator because two went missing at the same time! But I wouldn't rule out a predator due to size. My friend had a hawk come in and take one of her full grown Rhode Isand Red pullets. Did you fine them yet?

It sucks cause AC probably put all those dogs down if they did retrieve them from the "puppy mill" Shame on those people for abusing animals!!!!!!! The one pup was lucky to find a God send!!!! PS. Those pups are squeezable!!!!!!!
