I know it's a long shot, does anyone raise silver, wheaten, or blue wheaten Ameraucanas? I know there is one guy who is listed on the ABC, but he shows as nothing available for sale.

I hatched these guys out at the beginning of the year, like January. Definitely not short days. I can understand this would affect those hatching later in the year. Im also hoping as they approach their first year that egg size improves in the 17' season. Right now I have about the equivelent...

    The EE braggers thread!!!

Sadly AnRamire the Americana lie is a continuing thing and thus deception that has confused thousands of new chicken owners. I started with a few EE's, have decided to go to Ameraucanas.

It took my Legbars 27-30 weeks to start laying, even though they were being fed a high protein.

My batch is slowly growing up. This is one of my favorite hens. Sometimes you have to work with what you have. This is Athos my largest rooster. His brother D'Artanian has better color but a undesirable comb.

I swear mine just plot every single night about how they don't intend to start laying. 3 hens are 26 weeks, 4 are 23 weeks. They swear don't feed them high protein, they'll lay early. Yep. Plotting I tell ya.

At 23 & 26 weeks. Still no eggs :(. Aggh. My favorite pullet. I personally feel a lot of chicken owners are missing out by not having a flock of these guys.

rooster! Me. I have 3 shades of hens coming up, but my favorites are pastel like yours. I'm also crazy and like crests. Both my roosters are lighter than yours however. Now if these freeloaders would start laying I think I'd be complete.

I'm behind again by 10 pages. It always seems I fall behind, but I get so busy this time of year. New foals and all the problems that come with that. I know you guys were discussing combs and head feathers a bit ago. Figured I'd post a few updated pics. These are my lightest girls. I love all...

So many people buy Easter Eggers sold as "Ameraucanas", it's crazy. That would be like me calling Rufus an Andalusian. That would be the gold head reaching into the car.

Now that is very very interesting. Wonder if these Tim girls are like that. Being dark and all, yet beautifully cream hackles. Hmmm. I like the dark crested hens, but prefer the pale hens with a very salmon pink chest.

Happy to say that my son's favorite bird Hawkeye is finally a first time parent to 3 chicks. Waiting to see if the rest hatch. I do hope so.

My Legbars that were born around Christmas, I have them marked 22 weeks on May 4th. So I expect eggs close to that.

Love the names. There are a few people that have them, but only one near me, and we're talking 40 miles or so. The next is 50 miles and on out.

I agree, it is hard. I'm looking here, within the group, and have to go check Craig's. The downside is there is a person who is established and can flood the market with them. I however can not and am just growing my birds. That sure does bring value down though.

Value of our birds. Have a question, how much is a 18 week old cockerel worth? He's not a complete wreck, he just doesn't fit what I want. I feel like every time I go to sell chickens people want everything for nothing and half the time want you to drive them the bird too.

That rooster, wow. I'd want to raise nothing but Black's personally :)
