Update:Hi guys, So things are going well as I keep monitoring her. Somehow she got out of the pen I had her in and pecked at my white cochin. The affected cochin had blood all over her feathers and feet. Just a few feathers damaged; she is fine, but it looked worse than what it was. However...

Agressive/bully hen What can I do?

Why can't she see them? I feel terrible doing this, but she almost killed one of my chickens by not letting her eat. The most I locked her up was a day and she got better, but began to be a bully again :(

This will sound weird, but does anyone have vet insurance for their chickens?

Hi guys, I called them and yea I would pay 11 bucks for each chicken per month...thats too much when you total everything up. I would pay 100 bucks per month. Not cheap for sure but doable. Thanks for your responses.

This will sound weird, but does anyone have vet insurance for their chickens?

Thanks guys. There are a few doctors at the vet place I go to (the drive there is @25mins or so not bad). However, there is only one doctor who sees exotics. Turtles, fish, birds, ambiphians, ect. He is pretty good. They do accept VIP insurance which here in CO is the only one offered for...

This will sound weird, but does anyone have vet insurance for their chickens?

Hi all, This is not an emergency, but I thought to ask this question here. Please feel free to move this tread if it is not where it should be. Vet bills for chickens is very very expensive...Chickens are considered "exotic birds" and thus they charge you accordingly. I was wondering if their...

Diary of a Crossbeak: Support for Special Needs Chickens and their Keepers

Hi guys good to see this tread is active. My rooster has a cross beak too. He eats and is active, but has had a lot of seizure lately. Are seizures caused by him having a cross beak? Since he had a "cluster" of seizures he has not crowed. I am worried... Should I go visit my vet? What can...

How can I keep my chickens warm in the winter?

Thanks guys for all of your advice. It helps me to understand what I can do to help them get through winter. The coop has an extended roof so no wetness (snow rain) in the run or coop, but the wind is chilly and cold. Thats what I am worried about those cold drafs.
