    Chickens die when it rains

None of the above issues except no heat lamp or walls. What I've done now is place a 15x20 tarp over the whole thing when it rains or gets cold. I'll update again next rainstorm if it happens again.

Could really have been, I have no way of knowing. Given my different results from previously Im leaning towards a bantam breed.

Almost 4 month old Cornish Cross's

Sounds like I may have gotten some different birds. I feed the grower finisher from tractor supply. They were housed outside with shelter in a chicken tractor on pasture as well.

Almost 4 month old Cornish Cross's

Very good point. They were white and looked like the Cornish cross but could have been a bantum breed. I purchased them from Hoovers Hatchery so I am hard pressed to think they made that kind of mistake.

Almost 4 month old Cornish Cross's

So I processed 12 Cornish Cross chickens. They went through about 100 lbs of grower finisher and also grass fed. The largest 2 weighed in at 3.5 lbs 2 at 3lbs and the rest between 1.5 and 2.5 lbs. I am trying to understand why they weighed so little? anyone else experience this this year...

Incubator temp probe worked for 4 days

Yes, I don't know whether the temp was below 30c but the alarm would not go off. The temp reading was fluctuating all over the place. I was supposed to be able to set the minimum temp but its factory set at 30c and then I can set it lower which is backwards. I am returning this one and...

Since moving them into the yard and allowing them to eat the grass, weeds and dry feed almost half of them are...

Not sure that’s a good point. I lost some at younger ages as well. No signs of stress or disease they just up and died. Had a couple that were walking around acting normal and next moment dead

Chickens seem to die in cold wet weather

Hello, not sure if age has something to do with it. I have chickens around 8-10 months old who have access to shelter. They prefer though to be in the cold wet weather. I have had a few chickens die during these cold rain spells. Are they just the weak chickens or what? Could it be the...

    Red Ranger Broilers

Have now 14 Red Rangers. Says they reach 6.7 pounds in 80 days. Don't know how much feed that equates to. I can't imagine they get to that weight in that time free ranging. We feed ours grower/finisher once a day and they free range the rest of the time. They are around 5 months old and...

Weird red rash on chicken skin

Hello, I have processed less than 50 Cornish Rock X chickens and this is the first time I am seeing this. I read other posts where people have said it is hormones or scratching. This is on a thigh so I would think scratching would be ruled out. Also I have another piece that has a bit on the...
