I know he's a baby, but is such a gentle bird. I'm moving to a new place and don't know if Roos are allowed, so I think I'll be buying a No Crow Collar. =)
I got a black chick from Tractor Supply about 5 weeks ago, it just said straight run and everyone was black. Well, now it has a single comb and it's barred with black and white, mostly white though. My question is, beside Plymouth Rock, what other breed is barred with a single comb? I was...
Sounds like they want your attention. I went to hand feed a hen just yesterday when another one reached over and bit my arm! That hurt like Hell. I picked her up and put her at the feed bowl and she started eating like she was starved. Throw some feed for your girls, that will distract them away...
He doesn't do the noises always, but I suppose on inhale only. I think he hits my leg by mistake. One recent day he marched up to me, dropped his head, and started looking at my legs as if trying to figure out what they were. I reached down to pick him up and he screamed as if he didn't know I...
I have a roo that is ten months old, & he is the oddest bird. He runs around the yard making weird noises like he has asthma. He drops a wing and prances up to me and stops. Sometimes he hits my leg. Then runs away. All other Roos pick on him so he spends a good bit of time in the woods with...
I have had my new buff colored orpington about 4 weeks now. He is just the sweetest roo I've owned so far. I have 2 more, but they are juveniles, and very flighty. Rascal raised his hackles at me one time 2 weeks ago when I picked up a hen. I tapped his chest as he came at me and he ran away...
My roo boys Sam and Dean have found a new home. I tried holding them but the attacking continued to the point that I had anxiety hearing my guineas running behind me. I am getting a buff orpington roo tonight, I know nothing about them.
Thank you for all the replies! I read them. I have Scleroderma and Fibromyalgia, so alot of pain to be dealing with roosters just attacking through thick clothes. I do love my birds, they give me Peace. I have bruised easily, I have gouges from rooster attacks. However, I have decided to turn my...
I have a chick that is about 36 hours old, it was knocked out of its nest which is up 3 ft. It also has a gash on either side of its head and won't bear weight on his right leg. On his tummy he kicks both legs, is breathing not laboured, and drinking sugar water with antibiotics in it. I also...
I believe I will cull Sam first. I can't give him away if he is attacking people. Besides myself, he's gone after my 84 y.o. Mom.
(Dean is safe for now from Abbadon, Crowley and Megatron. ;) )
Oh, the guineas are great. They are little characters. Wish I had more, I just sold 6. I will start breeding them next year (in a controlled environ.) as they only lay eggs 3 months a year. The eggs are hidden all over the farm in bushes and hedges. Heaven knows if they'll be found by humans.
I have 2 Welsummer roosters attacking me. One, Sam, actively seeks me out and even knows my voice when I'm outside. I can get 500 ft. away from him before he runs and gets me. This is every time I hit the yard. Which is 3-4 Times a day. I have also Dean, who only attacks me if Sam does it first...
My name is Lisa, I'm from Lexington Virginia. I am owned by 4 guinea fowl, and 29 chickens . :D
I have one German Spitzhauben cockerel, two mottled Houdans (one pullet, one cockerel), three Polish top-hats, six Cuckoo Marans, eight Easter Eggers, and nine Welsummers.
My guineas are the...
