    Integrating a 12 week old flock w/ an 8 week old flock....HELP

Mrs. K, Thank you for the ideas, my coop is 4x6 and my run 12x12. The coop is raised up so they can go under it for shade. Also, is it normal for my 12 week old chickens to not roost at night? I keep the food in the coop to keep it from getting wet when it rains and the water is out in the...

    Integrating a 12 week old flock w/ an 8 week old flock....HELP

I have 5 silver laced wyandottes and 1 barred rock (who is the sweetest chicken) these are the 12 week olds. My 8 week olds are all different, I have an ameraucana, a golden laced wyandotte, a new hampshire red and a brahma. Unfortunately it's not possible to add another coop.

    Integrating a 12 week old flock w/ an 8 week old flock....HELP

I hope this is posted in the right spot! I have been trying to intergrate my (4) 8 week old chicks with my (6) 12 week old chicks. I figured it wouldn't be that bad because they are only 4 weeks apart. Boy was I wrong! I have been putting my younger ones in a dog crate in the run for the...

Hundreds if tiny flying bugs in and around my duck house....help

I have 4 pekins and they are about 8 weeks old, once we moved them outside into their run, they learned to go into their house at night after we placed them in it at night time for a couple of days. Our run is cement but I have rubber horse stall mats covering most of the cement, we hose it...

    Skitish Pekins

I have 4 Pekins and they are friendly but very skitish even though we have handled them from the day we got them. They run away everything time I approach them. Once I get one I can pet him or her but it squawks to get out of my hands to get back to the other 3. They are seven weeks old and...

What does your duck house look like?

Thank you for great ideas and your duck enclosure is awesome. I went and bought some horse stall mats, it's so easy just to hose them down. What do you use for a feeder and waterer do you give them food and water when you put them in their house for the night?

    The Duck Thread

Do ducks need grass and or dirt for their run? We are trying to figure out our coop and duck house as we are hoping to move our four ducks and six chickens outside this week. I have decided to keep them separate but they will free range together in my yard during the day. I think I may use my...

Not sure if my ducklings are healthy

Thanks for the help, I already have a milk jug with a hole cut out big enough for them to dunk their whole head and I give them fresh water several times a day, so do I need a separate container for a head washer? Or can I just add the apple cider vinegar to that container that they drink out of?

Not sure if my ducklings are healthy

I have 4 pekin ducklings about 4 1/2 weeks old, at one point they were all panting but it seems one is open mouth breathing pretty heavily and one has pinkish/red around one eye, but kind of has a a little bit of a white crusty look directly around the eye. They all have very scraggly feathers...

Thank you for all the helpful responses. I have 6 chickens and 4 ducks that will share the run. Our yard if fully fenced in already. There will be about a 4x12 area that we will move off the cement to give them grass and I plan to let them free range around my backyard a few hours a day. We...

Question about chain link dog kennel for run

We are planning to use a 12x12 chain link dog kennel for a run for our chickens and ducks. We will be moving them outside soon. The floor of our dog kennel is cement and we planned to move it off the cement about 3 feet so they have some dirt and we will put pine wood shavings over the...
