. . Been super busy at our house. Added these three lovely ducks to our flock and the chicks are now 6 weeks old and getting huge. So much fun! Next is to get something planted. Not sure what yet but something. Lol
Anyone here raise ducks? My DH has been talking about looking into ducks. He read something about them being quieter and having more frequent and bigger eggs than chickens. Also the idea of being able to have a drake and raising eggs or ducklings would be a bonus. We can't have roosters cause...
So I just got my new Brinsea EcoGlow20 today. I already love it. I've had a heat lamp the past year but always worried it would fall or the kids would burn themselves on it. I worry no longer the EcoGlow is awesome. My chicks are loving it too..
Anyone in kitsap county have any EE chicks 4-7 days old. Just got some light Brahams and a gold Wyandotte chick and wanna add a few EEs to this small flock.
Does anyone know if Cream Legbars are slow to mature? I started this experiment with this breed this summer I really wanted blue eggs. So we went from hatching eggs, to chicks (only ending up with one girl and 3 boys), to pullets, to putting the boys in the freezer to now the hen is 21 weeks...
Ugh! So now all the flock is taking turns bullying "Mable" around. They bully the cockerels a little but not like Mable. I've considered moving her and her brothers to the old coop to give them some space. But I'm nervous about moving her with three cockerels. Should I look into getting...
Does anyone have any suggestions where I can get a Brinsea Mini Advance Incubator? My DH doesn't thing we will be hatching often enough to pay full price for one. But I really want one. So has anyone had success finding used ones for a good price.
Tried to gets few photos of the chicks since its been a few weeks since I've taken any but the hens weren't willing to share the limelight. #DivaHens
I did manage one photo of one of the cockerels.
Not picky about type but I'm not gonna be hatching till Febuary time frame. I'm hoping to do a hatching project with my Girl Scout troop and we won't have time in their schedule till then.
Oh no! Just went out check the girls and make sure they all made it into the new coop and I noticed some one attacked my little pullet Mable. I think it was Brownie cause I've seen her push the babies around everyonce in a while but I've never seen her full on attack the little ones. Poor Mable...
oh! There so cute. I'm hoping to add an Orpington to my flock. My list of breeds I want are 1 EE, 1 Orpington, 1silkie, and 1 Barred Rock. Thats just the short list. I've been banned from having more than 10 adult birds at a time :(
Thanks for the advice, I'm glad my DH will be home for this first go around. We've both looked at videos and blogs so finger crossed we get it right the first time.
