Sorry about the poor pictures, I caught him/her this evening & took these two pictures. It's exaxtly 6 weeks old now. Cheers!
Glad to hear your mixed breeds are such good layers, i hope mine don't start playing hide & seek with their eggs! :-D
Yes this does worry me a bit, he does get on them quite regularly, at first I thought it was a bit violent, but the hens don't seem to mind, they get up & shake it off. The girls don't seem to have any injuries or to be all that fazed by it...
I hope he's fully grown :-D he not as affectionate now, still comes running when I call, but he will no longer sit in my lap. Our chick was broody hatch/reared, we left one egg with the hen to see if she would stick it out. I haven't got a recent photo of the chick (it's about a month old now)...
For anyone interested, the is my Rooster these days. He has grown into a very big boy, but his two hens seem to love him so iv kept him. He is a Dad now & has a little jet black chick that seems to be taking more after him in the looks department than it's pekin bantam mother.

My chick is a few weeks old & seems to be losing its feathers. It seems happy & healthy running around with its parents, eating & drinking well. But it looks so mangy! Is there anything I can do?
I'm new to the BYC club, with two Pekin Bantam hens & one (I think) EE roster. One of my hens has recently gone broody, so much so that iv decided to let her have a chance of sitting on an egg for three weeks. Who knows maybe I'll add a new chick to my flock!?!?!? Now I haven't wanted to leave...
Thanks for all the help guys! At this stage, my two hens still rule over him, even though he is much taller. I guess all I can do is keep an eye on them all as they mature... Thanks again! :-D
I'm lucky enough to live in a small country town, so I don't need to worry about the crowing. He is such an affectionate boy, always coming for evening cuddles & to sit in his favourite perch, my shoulder. My concern is how big he will get & will he be a danger to my beautiful little pekin...
I bought this little fellow a couple of months ago thinking it was a hen, now I'm not so sure. I was told it was a mixed breed bantam, now I'm not so sure cos (he/she) towers over my two laying pekin bantams. Any ideas on breed? It was a pale lavender colour as a chick but is now getting dark...
I found my first egg this morning! My girls are growing up I have three mixed breed bantams, their ages vary by a few months. Should I switch to layer pellets now one of them is laying? Or is there something I can add to their grower pellets to help my one layer? Iv heard it can be bad to...
I have three pekin x pullets, aprox 3 months old. Lately they have started sitting ONTOP of their coop for a few minutes each night before going inside... Is this normal? Is this what roosters normally do?
