    Yay! One chick out & another external pipped. 5 others are not doing much for now. Candled 3 days ago & all looked good. Star is a nice hen. She lets me peek. :)

    ok... the nest box is a medium dog crate. I could put the door on it to keep the other hens out. They all lay in her nest even though there are 3 other boxes! I have to pull eggs out every day.

    I have my first broody hen. Hatch date is about Wednesday. I can't wait! She's got 6 ee eggs and 1 of hers(BR). Going to move her whole nest box this afternoon. Haven't had a chance to do it earlier. Will they be ok with the move?

    Neighbors dog got the momma duck & gave me these babies. They are so cute! Put them with my 4 week old duckling.

    White chicken with green legs?

    one of my EE girls is jus like yours. Pure white with green legs. She lays different colored eggs. Sometimes they are greenish blue, pale green or a very pale lavender! They are also very smooth eggs. Almost porcelain like. She is my roosters favorite hen & it shows...poor girl Is looking ragged.

    My first ever baby duck! Too bad it is the only egg out of 12 that survived. Can't wait to get home from work to see it all fluffy!

    cleaning skulls

    We use hydrogen peroxide & water plus time. We find bones here in the desert. If they are really fresh, we bury them. Again... takes a long time. In summer there are plenty of natural cleaner beetles. My daughter paints and carves them. I've got bones all over the property!!

    The 6th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!

    Final count is 0 for 14. It was my first time, but I've learned a lot. Have duck eggs in now with about 10 days to go. Set 12 & down to 6. Hopefully they will all make it. They all look great. Lots of movement & good veining. :)
