    Geese in Texas!

Hello, we are in Devine, TX, not too far from SA. I got none to sell but I have a couple of African geese. They are a great alarm system! Very territorial. And yes, it is too hot right now. I love them.

I can’t offer any help either but I have a few hens just like it. Seems to me that one hen started showing symptoms and a few days later the next one started. I didn’t notice at first but one night i did the headcount before bedtime and saw 2 of my younger hens on the wrong side of the coop...

    Hawk killed our chicken!

I have had the same hawk hunting my chicken for the past 3 years. Right at the beginning he killed 2 of my baby roosters, first one and then 2 weeks later the other. He has been stalking us ever since. We tried some hawk traps recommended by a neighbor farmer but they didn’t work. I learned...

Chicken Flesh Eating Disease? Warning-Graphic pics

Your post helped me a lot. Fly and maggots makes sense We culled the weak ones but kept one with mild symptoms. She moves very slow and barely eats. I checked her behind and underbelly but the skin looks healthy, also checked between legs and belly. The only thing that is actually visible are...

Chicken Flesh Eating Disease? Warning-Graphic pics

I have the same issue with my chicken. I lost one by one chicken, every 2 weeks or so. Never saw too much other than diarrhea and them walking funny. After a while they quit walking, get really lethargic and then pass away. This morning I noticed another chicken walking funny and barely moving...

Lethargic guinea hen(s) not eating much and yellowy watery poop and black vomit.

Yes, the vet would be best. Do you think the black vomit contains blood? Or, do you think it might be junk that got stuck in her crop? How long has she been sick now? Any signs of it getting better?

Lethargic guinea hen(s) not eating much and yellowy watery poop and black vomit.

My Guinea hen had the same behavior, however she developed little blisters on her feet and then a few in face. I thought she was done for it but after 2 weeks she started feeling better and she is still with us. She is one of my best layers sometimes 3 a day. While she was sick she lost a lot of...

anyone 's Kroger grocery now have the "bulk bins"?

In KY and TN you might want to try the bulk feed at the CO Op, the TRactor Supply or Rural King. I have used all 3 Stores and have no complaints. At the Rural King make sure it is in prestige condition and was stored correctly. You get moldy and/or unusable feed or hay etc sometimes.

Very well said and to the point and I can only confirm your experience. I love them for all the same reasons but in my family I am the only one that has warm and fuzzy feelings for them.

How can you tell when ducks are cold?

I agree. What ever it takes, we'll make sure our ducks and chicken got everything they need and even if it is plugging in a heater or else. We want to keep our feathered friends save also. We are located in TN and do usually have mild winters. I think all of us are covered by the same cold...

     Yummies for my ladies?

Our babies like dried mealworms for a treat, and go crazy for watermelon in the summer. Now they go for our homemade mush that is made with red wine and some are made with beer. I heat up the wine or beer to boiling point to omit the alcohol, then I mix it with their regular feed to make the...
