    Is this girl sick?

These are great ideas. However, she is definitely not low on the totem pole. Everyone gets out of her way, I haven't seen anyone pick on her. She tends to be pretty high in the pecking order and other than that, she is really good at keeping to herself. Could it be lice or mites if she is...

    Is this girl sick?

At first I thought this Sicilian Buttercup was just molting. But, this started a few months ago and she hasn't gotten any new feathers in and the other Sicilian Buttercup (got her at the same time) looks extremely healthy. In fact, the entire flock is super healthy. She is the only one who is...

    Need advice

I just realized I never responded to this. It turns out, the duck had broken an egg inside her plus did some pretty bad internal damage and she did end up dying. I soaked her daily, I gave her Pedialyte. I tried everything but he really did a number on her. We ended up getting rid of him...

Thank you pipermark. I hadn't thought of Pedialyte. I will go grab some. EggresiveAli, she is the same. Really has had no change since I first noticed that she wasn't her self.

    Need advice

I am hoping someone here will know something about what is going on with my Rhode Island Red. She is approximately one year old. She has been in excellent health until about a few days ago. The chickens are all free range although they are locked in at night. She came out of the coop when I...

A bonded rooster - should I replace his hen?

No, unfortunately, she didn't. He has done well though. He hasn't really bonded to any of the other hens the way he was bonded to Chica but he hangs with the girls and takes care of them. He really is such a nice rooster. Thanks for asking!

A bonded rooster - should I replace his hen?

That is what I was worried about... with 13 birds, they get along so famously, it is nerve wracking to think about rocking that boat. I will read up on integration. Thank you!

A bonded rooster - should I replace his hen?

I'll cross my fingers but I think it is more likely something got her. Although if she wanted to hide, she could definitely do it. We have 17 acres with lots of places to hide. 21 days, huh? Wouldn't that be the best if she showed up!!

A bonded rooster - should I replace his hen?

I sure do hope she has gone broody and will show back up but it has been a couple weeks now. How long could she be gone if that was the case? She was such a doll. She would jump up on our laps and hang out with us. We sure miss her! And poor Bob!

A bonded rooster - should I replace his hen?

We had 10 hens, 2 roosters, and two ducks, a male and female. One hen and one rooster, who are two years old, have been together since they were born - very bonded to each other. The other chickens and ducks are the same age - all are around 21 weeks old. The 2-year-olds (Bob and Chica) are...

    Love this site!!!

We live in a small town outside of Seattle, Washington. We got chicks in March - 10 of them!! Plus two ducklings. And then we added a couple of 2-year-old Silkies (a rooster and a hen). In four short months, our lives have changed to revolve around birds and I LOVE it!!! I can't believe how...
