    Sick Chicken Help Needed

Thank you. We are currently waiting for her appointment. I honestly don’t have high hopes. She’s not doing well in terms of eating and drinking Update: I want to sincerely thank everyone for their support and guidance with Red. I took her into the vet today and she was in such poor health...

    Sick Chicken Help Needed

She (Red) is still hanging in there. I wouldn’t say she’s better or worse. She really likes her food mushed in warm water and is eating more. 2 days until the vet. I’m hoping she makes it.

    Sick Chicken Help Needed

I want to thank you so much for all of your information and time with suggestions and direction on what to look for. I was able to talk to the vet today and she had pretty much the same opinion as you. She thinks cancer or old age. We don’t think she’ll make it and she didn’t sound optimistic...

    Sick Chicken Help Needed

I appreciate the information. I’m currently on a cancellation list and have an appointment for Saturday. The vet called me and walked through several things and she thinks it’s either cancer or age related and symptoms related to end of life. We don’t think she’ll make it to Saturday so for now...

    Sick Chicken Help Needed

I’m not opposed to it but not sure how to do it. I don’t want her to suffer and if she’s in pain I’d rather end it.

    Sick Chicken Help Needed

She’s not hunched and tail is up. She’s not got much space to move around but when I took her out of the box she walks slowly and seems curious. Her poop all day has been like colored dark brown water and doesn’t seem interested in food and very little water. Eyes are definitely droopy.

    Sick Chicken Help Needed

Unfortunately, she’s my only chicken so she’d be by herself outside. She is nodding off when standing. I can’t get her in to see someone until Saturday and doubt she’ll last that long. I don’t want her to suffer any longer if she’s in pain and don’t think the vet will give any antibiotics...

    Sick Chicken Help Needed

I haven’t seen her eat or drink water this morning. But I’ve been on calls and not always near her. She’s currently standing in her box on and off sleeping. The pic is her most recent poop. Not sure if you’re able to tell anything from it. Since yesterday, she’s eaten about 1/4 of a large cereal...

    Hi everyone!

I’m in the Pacific Northwest and no longer have a flock. We’re down to one hen at the moment. Debating on building up in the spring. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed having chickens over the years. 😁

    Sick Chicken Help Needed

I checked her crop and it’s flat/feels empty. I do not have antibiotics around. The only thing I can do is call back to the vet and hope there’s a cancellation. I don’t think they would give antibiotics without seeing her. We live on a small island and not many options unfortunately. None of the...

    Sick Chicken Help Needed

Thank you so much. I’ll follow your recommendations and let you know how the crop is tomorrow. She doesn’t get kitchen scraps but every now and then she gets some cooked oatmeal, rice, couscous or other grains that are chicken safe. Her regular food is purina organic layer pellets. Her...

    Sick Chicken Help Needed

She seems the same as yesterday. She sleeping, eating, drinking water. Still has the dark green runny Her eyes are definitely dull and not as bright as they usually are. Her comb is getting a bit more color but still pale. It’s mostly flat but closer to her neck it’s puffy at the base. I can’t...

    Sick Chicken Help Needed

I think it was more about making her comfortable. She is older but it seemed so sudden. She seems to be eating her feed and drinking a lot of water so I’m baffled at what could be going on. I’ll reach out for triage as recommended. Many thanks!

    Sick Chicken Help Needed

She’s eating. She eats purina organic layer pellets. We weren’t sure how much she was eating so the vet said to bring her in from the cold and give her some treats.

    Sick Chicken Help Needed

She’s eating purina organic layer pellets. And switched to some treat mix yesterday. I’ll try the mash and eggs and see how that goes. She does free roam the property and tends to forage a lot.

The treats I’m giving her has pumpkin seeds. Is there a reason to avoid this?

    Sick Chicken Help Needed

She did molt about 2 months ago-ish? I have not dewormed her at all. She’s eats regular purina organic layer feed but I’ve just switched her to some seed and grain treats to confirm she’s eating now that she’s in the house. I wasn’t sure if she’s maybe depressed/stressed with being the only...

    Sick Chicken Help Needed

My only remaining chicken, an approximately 6-7 year old Rhode Island Red is not well. She’s been very healthy up until the other day when I noticed she’s got dark green watery poop that smells like sewage. She had a lot of mess around her butt and I soaked her in a warm bath to clean her up and...
