I have the same problem, don't know which bird it is so far ... I have noted where each is perching tonight, so will check tomorrow. We don't have Tylan here in Northern Ireland, but will (whichever one it is) have the vet inject her with antibiotic, he is very good with chickens. Though I read...
I got it in a Homeopathic shop, it only worked for one of my chicks ... I tried everything, I get so attached to my chicks, it is so hard when they don't recover
I looked after one for six months, but finally had to have her put to sleep, she just fell on her side all the time.
I have ten roosters in a run of their own. Ten hatched from twelve eggs, they are lovely boys, all different, all named, and they know their own names. I have twelve hens in another run with two roosters, which is more than enough for them. The thing is, I feel bad for my boys as they have to...
I have thirteen Roosters, one white crested Polin ... whom I had to separate from his ladies, who pecked all the feathers from his crest. Now it is growing again, I will have to keep him in sickbay, or they would keep pecking him ! One of his ladies is with him, as she went blind and needs to be...
Apple cider vinegar, is very good, give morning and before bed, I dip a little bread into a tablespoon of raw apple cider vinegar. That way, it delivers the neat acv to the infection, it takes a little while, but works!
To update my chicks ... The little cockerel is walking well, seems like a full recovery, I put him with the others, but he got chased, so brought him back in. I had to separate, him from my little chick Phoebe, he is a little terror, he kept trying to mate with her! She is now trying to walk...
My chicks are still very perky, and one has started to walk, though a bit wobbly! I put one in a large plant pot yesterday and he started scratching around, he really enjoyed himself in the sun. I brought him in after about twenty minutes, the exercise did him good. I had the other one out too...
Thank you Judy. I have been using the pine tar, but it so messes their feathers, and doesn't work. The pecking happens at night in the coop, which is a large shed, where they can move away from the culprit, wish I knew who it is lol. It only happens to two of the chickens, which had bald patches...
Chicks are a little better, I have them onHypericum 30c. They are still wobbly, but they tuck can tuck their legs under now ... will update again soon!
Couldn't see your video as it's private ... but will try to get the Hypericum, did you get yours online? The problem is, here in Ireland they use different names, but I will try online. How did you get it into your chick?
Thanks
Your post has given me hope, I was googling for a remedy for Mareks, which lead me here. ( only joined a few days ago) I have two nine week old chicks, down with Marek's, they have all the classic symptoms. I brought them indoors and make sure they drink and eat, I have seen a wee improvement...
Thank you, I will look it up, sometimes it can be a different name here! The chicks are still alive, as I make sure they are eating and drinking, I know they wouldn't have survived in the hen run. However while they seem happy, I will work with them, but won't be adding to my flock or giving any...
