I just made a tumblr a few weeks ago, and I'm loving it! Its basically a photo blogging network.

I don't understand why feather plucking is such a problem around young Nankins. It may be that they require higher quality feed and more space because of their long history as expert free-ranging birds. When I was raising my chicks, I had a lot of problems with bloody backs and feather picking...
I'll be showing my Nankin bantams at the local county fair tomorrow on 4/4. Wish me luck and send a prayer in my direction. I'm getting kind of anxious, but I'm pretty positive I'll do well, after all, I do have you guys. ;)
So before I go to bed, I just have one question.
How do you properly...

It was definately time for a change. My only concern right now (I just realized it, even after I started typing this) is that I can't right click for spell check!
By the way, I love the search feature. The one on the other forum was terrible.
franciscreek, Thats too bad that you're getting out of Nankins. What other projects are you planning to work on?
I would love some of your 2011 pullets. Your birds are stunning, and I'd be honored to carry on some of your lineage.
My only drawback right now is that I'm 100% rooster-less. We had...
Spacing is important. Young Nankins have a tendency to peck eachother. ALOT. I had bare backs up until I let them out to free range. This was a huge issue with us, I'd constantly come home to a bunch of bloody backs In the brooder and had to do Major damage control with disinfecting and cleaning...
Chickie'sMoma :
actually, in the UK they have chocolate pekins (aka: bantam cochins) there are a few breeders over there with them. but i think the reds are more colorful by far too!
I prefer this shade over the the browns thrown my chocolate.
This shade is MUCH more satisfying.
Only three eggs hatched from the 10+ I ordered. They were all black.
I'm satisfied, and I cant complain because this was expected by shipped eggs.
Good luck! I cant wait to see these beauties grow up!
If Chocolate was available in Cochins, these would still be prettier. LOVE them. Absolutely gorgeous.
If you were looking for a nicer alternative to chocolate, I would turn to these.
