    I bought 15 barnyard mix for a dollar each there were a few maran EE just a variety Wyandotte I can tell with most but this one has baffled me. She is so interesting to look at my husband and I just can't figure it out. We call her our wild game bird like a partridge or chukar.

    It's a mix hen but what two I don't know. For a second I thought just maybe a pheasant got the mom. I bought a whole bunch of chicks barnyard mix but none look like her. If anyone got one like this let me know. I give up.

    Well when I used the chlorhexidine I did not need to bandaged let it dry so no infections can grow. Watch for flies number one problems vet see are maggot so don't be in a hurry to put back in coop until you know it's good. Some suggest blue kote if that is right to put on wounds so other birds...

    Out of curiosity how is your hen today. You seem to do the right thing. When this happened to me my vet suggested chlorhexidine. It worked great.my little guy look like she was a goner but the next day she was her normal self. Hope yours gets better soon.

    I usually draw back for blood but my son ran in while I was injecting so I pulled the needle out and when I went back in to inject her again I didn't draw the second time and when I pulled out I saw blood and freaked.     OK my husband was holding her because we thought she was a goner but she ended up relaxing and started breathing slowly and feel asleep. That was horrible. Next I'm injecting in the beast. Never again.

    My frizzle was hovering over wanting those babies she took in those eggs and seems to be sharing the motherhood now with her best friend. I will be watching to see if anything changes so I can do the switch if needed. Thankyou
