I have 3/5 adult hens with this. 1 died suddenly & thought this might be the cause. I dewormed & trimmed & it got better, but still present. The worst one, I tried soaking & just couldn't get her clean on my own. Her poo seems normal & skin looks good, but she sleeps with her tail straight up...
Sorry, the first didn't work. I've had no problem moving mine after dark. I now have learned to pick them up each night & remove new eggs that my other hens lay. & when you're ready, you can gently move the eggs & hen to wherever you want them to hatch & stay.
I have a hen that hatched a chick today. She has 7 more eggs, but none of them look close to hatching. I already have 4 week old chicks from another hen so I'm worried about finding places to keep all these chickens of different ages. Will 1 chick with a Mama be ok? Will she abandon the other eggs?
I bought 6 guineas 2 years ago. 4 were killed fairly quickly & I have a male & female left. Last year she laid lots if eggs. I tried twice to incubate & none hatched (but they were fertile, I just failed the process) she went broody twice, but abandoned her eggs a week or so before they hatched...
Tonight I moved her nesting box into a large dog kennel. There's room for her to get out & poop & I put food & water in with her. I put all today's eggs under her (10). So I hope she stays happy & takes care of those eggs.
I have a Wyandotte that went broody 3 weeks ago. Just a few days before her 22 eggs (not all hers) should have hatched, she switched nests. I had been too tired to collect the eggs & I guess she decided the nest with about 12 eggs looked good. Her other eggs were cold... Today she's back to the...

Yep. He's crowing his head off now. I hope he's better behaved than my current rooster (who's about to be soup). But it worries how bossy he is to the hens.

Everyday it looks more rooster like. Either way, he/she ignores me but is very bossy to the hens. My Wyandotte rooster is a terror to humans but is sweet as can be to the hens.
I have several breeds. My newest are 2 light brahamas. Supposed to be females. They are 8 months old. Today one of them became very aggressive I the other chickens. It got to the food first & when others came up, it grabbed them, pulling out feathers and chasing them off. I noticed it's a bit...
I have 4 Orpingtons, 5 wyandottes, 2 light brahamas & 2 guinneas. At night, all are roosting & sleeping except the brahamas (also the youngest. They are 3 months old, the rest are 6 months to 1 year old). I never see the brahamas sleep at all. They are always walking around , making little...
