Hello BYC friends..
We have three awesome buff Orpington roos in our flock of six .. All raised togther. So far no real aggression towards us or the hens .. Or even amongst the boys aside from the head Roo who likes to makes sure everyone knows he is the boss..
We are not allowed any roos where...
Thank you to all who replied .. We are attached to all the chickens as pets and don't eat our pets .. We were raising for eggs only and not for breeding. I was promised 99.9% that all were hens.. As you can see that does not happen often as I am learning many hatcheries put the Roos in as no one...
Thanks for the reply .. It was suggested that I deworm the flock just as a precaution. I have yet to do this so I am thinking it's a good idea.
Your most likely right about the crossbreeding.
That does make sense.
Funny you said hen and I have suspicion this may be a Roo :)
Hope your right ...
This is one of my Orpingtons .. I am just noticing that many of their earlobes are turning white ?
They normally seem very red ..
Is this a worming problem ? Hormonal ?
I don't see any mites ..
Any insight would be most helpful .. TIA
Hello BYC friends..
I have 9 weekers and think three of my six are Roos .. We were hoping for all hens but that may not be the case .. Town only allows for hen and no Roos but we are going to still try and keep them .. My question is, is that going to be too hard on my girls ?
I know like one...
I know nothing about hawks and other birds of pray.. Where I live I don't think we have many but my neighbor had a very small dog and aside she has seen hawks in the trees eating other birds eggs.. How do I recognize them ?
And how can I deter them from my yard ?
We are only allowed 6 hens and no Roos where I live so that took care of chicken math.. I was going to get a mixed flock but I just love them so much that I got all six buffs
Hi BYC friends ..
I have two week old babies and I just picked up my runt and saw she has a wee bit of moister around her nostril. Not sneezing eating fine and drinking fine .. Seems ok just did not know if that's was a sign of something and if I should be concerned ?
Please advise TIA
Help .. My two week old just made this.. Should I be concerned .. They have been having very firm dark poops and this one was kinda light brown and very soft ... I just started to mix the organic chick feed with the medicated to introduce it slowly .. Is this a normal poop .. Sorry I'm new
