I have a string of chicken drinking cups i mounted to pvc. I didnt use them because they have a tendency to leak. Im considering raising pigeons. Would they be able to use these?
Here just recently a local feed store recommended Payback feed. He says not only is it very cheap but production levels go up on it and people swear by it.
Anyone have experience with "Payback" brand of feed?
They have improved much. No more casualties so far they have stabilized. The main reason I was using vinegar was to try and avoid pasty butt. I've only had a couple and I hit them with a warm water spray bottle to the butt and paper toweled them off. Wasn't totally sure it was a great idea but...
Yes I was just about to add...just got off the phone with local store said nearly all of theirs died cuz of cold weather during shipping.
She added the thing about hydration but seemed to think 2TB apple cider wasn't too much. Regardless think I'll stay with sugar and electrolytes!
I have some...
Thanks Double
2 more have went since then. The rest look fine but I'll find out. The hatchery was actually supposed to send me all of that and forgot but it should arrive today. Think they will be sending me replacements.
Ill grab some Gatorade on my way home today!
The grain is actually a 20% protein feed that is ground up to nearly powder.
Fingers crossed so far no more dead ones. Total of 9 though. I removed the vinegar water and put in sugar water.
Well, to start with the hatchery for got to put the blue gel and electrolyte packet in with the chicks. Out of the 39 chicks that arrived so far looks like 31 might make it. I had to use a heat lamp and a radiant ceramic space heater to start with. As luck would have it my heat controller was...
In the NW it gets dark as early as 4-5pm in the winter months and by mid summer it gets dark at around 9-10pm. There's a huge swing here. I have reminders set to turn off the light system in the spring and a reminder to turn it back on in the fall. That only gives a full 12 hours during a...
Oh and auto timer light which will switch on every morning at 4am. Also installed a thermostatically controlled variable speed gable fan for extra ventilation in the summer. Sooo, yes perhaps some bells and whistles!
Roost area
My built in brooder boxes. I pull a board from the center and it makes one big one. Also shows my incubator. Temp and moisture controlled with brain.
Inside view of auto door will get another of outside later.
Haven't threaded in my chicken cups on PVC just yet but that's my...
After looking again I notice the 18% protein broiler food is $5 per bag more expensive than the 20% protein maxgrow! Think I will stick with the max! I notice this feed looks very powdery though...
Yes. He said that the 18% protein Broiler NCS contains fish meal that may flavor the eggs. 20% Maxgrow can be used with additional calcium. Basically that it does tend to bleed to the eggs.
I'm thinking about going with one of these:

I don't know if it's available where you are at.
I like the sound of the All Flock feeds. I haven't decided just yet. Even with it being a local outfit think their turnover of feed should...
I like the idea of feeding something that is good for all stages. I have to stick to something that can be fed to a sizeable flock effectively. (definitely in the 50lb bag quantity!)
What do you think about feeding the 20% protein in max grow and then offering free choice oyster shells...
Has anyone here used this feed? This is what I'm thinking about using. The first year they will all be the same development but starting the second year I might start using the grower feed and then put out free choice oyster shell.
Anyone used this?
