    Baby Chick Pictures!!!!! POST!

Yah I put save-a-chick probiotic in the water. I got 6 chicks two days ago at agway. The rest are perky little devils. She may have gotten trampled by the others. I hope its not a disease, she looks like a fighter though. Still eats on her own and I give her water by hand every so many hours...

    Baby Chick Pictures!!!!! POST!

Has anyone seen this before? One of my chicks has this coming out the pooper end. Could it be a yeast infection? She's not moving much but still hanging on. Likes to stick out one of her legs but it still works. Any help or knowledge would be cools. She's isolated in a transparent container with...

Same here, warmed up so fast! The chickens coop started to flood as well. Glad to see some of my stronger mums survived as the snow melted.

If you're really worried move them in the garage, its only one night or so. A -30 wind chill is a -30 draft. That's way to cold. A small coop is actually good for winter as the hens have less space to heat but drafts toss that plus out the window. Thanks for the heads up on the weather too...

As long as there is no draft to chill the hens you should be fine. You can always add the bulb just in case. The added light at night might bother them. Mine roost on a shelf and huddle to stay comfy. Sometimes my silkie cross will roast on the ground plank all by herself. One tough little...

Wind last night kept me up... Thought the ducks would be blown all over the place it was that bad. So I open my window to check... Nope their just sitting there, wind blowing, still sitting. Do you ducks have like magnetic feet or something? The snow... I go out, I come in, I go out 7 minutes...

    Can ducks have soup?

Ducks are omnivores. Is this soup from a can or "soup" made just with what you listed (giblet/tortilla/veggies). https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/242460/the-ultimate-list-of-duck-treats-and-supplements

Mine just started laying again last month. First it was just Epsom and now some of the others are pitching in. Didn't notice till I looked in the far corner. They even dragged the dummy duck egg over XD.

    "Newbie" with some questions

The question is do you want drakes (males) in your flock of hens (females). You don't need drakes unless you want a predator "decoy" or babies. If you want drakes then 1 drake to your whole flock is fine. When you have more than 1 drake then the ratio applies or if you're a breeder. Its to...

My first baby ducks! Please help!

Have you tried soaking her foot in epsom salt water to try to bring the swelling down. 1 table spoon epsom salt to a gallon warm water. Then you can pour a glass and put her foot in it for say 10 min, 3 times a day (morning, afternoon, night). Don't let her drink it, they can I just don't recall...

Injured Duck (please help with your opinion!!)

From what you have said I'm gonna say no its not. As long as she's happy, healthy and can do things on her own. If the leg does not heal or gets in the way or appears to affect her you could always amputate it. She'll just be a one legged duck. Some ducks in the wild live with one leg due to...

    Bonnie is a tart

Welcome to the forum :) and poultry hood! I have to ask did you just "toss" the new ducks in with the old ones or did you introduce them slowly to each other over a period of time, till you saw acceptance or progress. Ducks are slow to accept change. When I got muscovys it took them about a...

    Sexing Muscovy ducks

Not a very big one but I was SUPER bent on getting hens! Boom get out the way, drakes, I'm here for ladies only! Females will have slimmer leg shanks and less predominate "ankles". I think 6 weeks the size should tell who's what.

    What's wrong with my muscovy

How old is the muscovy? How many ducks do you have? Do you have a deep water bucket so he can clear his nares? Have you given your new duck some form of electrolyte/probiotics to ease the shift to a new location?
