The neighbors called the police on my roos, so I had to get rid of them today or risk paying fines to keep them. Is there some way to either keep them from crowing or "de-crow" them (think de-barking a dog)?

Did this. She is able to keep the eye open a bit and she is eating and drinking.
Thanks!
Glad to hear it! I went through a bout of pox and one of my roo's eyes did the same thing. I opened them for him every day and he would go straight to the food and water. It took about a week...
I have a hen, 7 months old. She (along with many of my girls and boys) have a case of Dry Pox. Her's is so bad that her eyes are swollen shut with Pox around them. All she does is sit on the roost since she cannot see.
How do I get her to eat?

Agreed, you won't get as much breast meat, but you also don't have all the health issues either! It is no fun walking out to feed your broilers and finding that 5-10 died earlier in the day, for no apparent reason, and are too far gone to eat.
True, but that's not an accurate...

I butchered 9 OEGB roos last week. They were a bit bigger than quail but not a store size cornish hen. We brined them and smoked them! They were great. Wish I have another 20+!
Process a few now and see how big they are dressed. Then make a decision about the rest. I did 10 early because I wanted "cornish hens" They were each about 7-8 weeks and weighed about a pound dressed. they were the best that I have ever eaten.
