How old is Kerbie now? My two Leghorn Chickens are progressing more than my other Chickens aroud the same age and they are starting to look like him. Do you have a side view photo of the hen next to him so I can compare my two leghorns and see if they match him or her closer. Mine were bought on...

I am just nosy...what state do you live in? Most states require that you buy a minimum of 6 at a time.
BTW... congrats!
I live in Central Texas and the only place that requires you to buy six or more is Tractor Supply and that is only around Easter so that the Easter groups that buy...
Enjoy the chickens while they are growing and then enjoy the meaty goodness that they provide you and that they are all natural and not injected with hormones and additives like most super market chickens are prior to them being butchered.
I would like to see those photos.
If I put a fifty gallon rubbermaid trash can as the water holding tank and mount it to where it gravity flows to the nipples through PVC Pipe will this work ok? Also, will I have to change the water out regularly or can I keep it in there until it runs out and then fill it back up again?

If the chick starter contains ONLY Amprolium as the medication ingredient then it'll be safe to feed to the laying hens until the chicks are about eight weeks old or thereabouts. Offer oyster shell free choice on the side. When the chicks are about eight weeks old change them all...
I have two hens that are a year old and then I have nine chickens that are about five weeks old. The young chickens have managed to slip through a hole in their brooder area of the chicken coop and into the main coop area and as of this morning have been in with the older hens. So far no...

Do you have to buy the door for the Door Opener or can I use the wooden one in place already and run the pulley and wire and etc. to the existing pop door?

You can't return roosters unfortunately. You can sell them on Craigslist or you could raise them and butcher them when they get big enough. If you go to several of the hatchery web sites that are on this web site you can select sexed pullets for not much more money than what Straight...
Are Silkies a Bantam Chicken? If so do they lay good eggs to eat? Just curious since I don't know much about Silkies. Saw some feathered feet chicks in the bantam bin the other day at Tractor Supply but the clerk told me they were Bantams and that I wouldn't want them. Didn't notice if they had...
Please look at these photos of the six chicks I got from Tractor Supply from the Sraight Run Bin. There are six different photos and the chicks are now about six weeks old and the size of a pigeon with almost all of their feathers.
Thanks for the help.

Thats good to hear. Here in the Austin area of Texas we deal with scammers every day on Craisglist. I live out in the country too so it works out good to have them butchered and then smoked on the BBQ or in a stew or some good old chicken and dumplings. I used to work in a meat market...

Sounds like one of thiose scams from Nigeria or other countries where they have you pay for the shipping and have you send them a money order for the shipping and then they keep the money order. Just say no unless they meet you in person to look at and buy them. I also wouldn't take...
Have you looked into selling them on this web site since they have a section for chicken sales. I know it would be a pain to sell them and ship them but it would be better than sending them to the meat farm and them making money off of your chickens.

The chicken coop is for the chickens to stay in at night and to lay their eggs in nesting boxes and to keep them in out of the weather and away from predators. They usually are in the coop in the evenings. It is usually where they roost at during the night. They also use it periodically...

The chicks were in a chicken wire brooder in my storage area inside the chicken coop and the older hens were only seperated by a double layer of chicken wire from them and they have seen each other every day since they were put in the brooder and raised right next to each other. Also, I...
