they are fully formed. the girls free range. I have 2 boxes and they only use one. 4 hens. I'm going to make the coop a little cozier and see if that helps. I use golf balls as fake eggs. I think there is 1 or 2 chickens that just won't lay in the box.
My girls have been doing good, starting to lay. I noticed a week or so ago an egg under the roost, then everyday afterwards. Now it seems another hen has started laying on the roost. They were all but 1 using the nest boxes and thought they would come around. Any suggestions?

I have had horrible luck with these things. I tired a homemade one first that didn't work then bought a galvanized metal one that leaked like a seive. I got a 3 gal plastic one from TSC and it did good the first time but now I can't get it to stop leaking.
I'm going to try an old scuba diving...
They are layers. The house is 8x8x8 and the run is about 8x10 and their yard is about 4 acres. They don't really range all that far from the coop. I love watching them chase what they think the other one has only to find she doesn't have anything. Anyway, I like having some feed for them but...

I vote paranoid too. Vinca is supposed to be an hallucinogen. how can I tell if my chickens are hallucinating?
We'll have to have an intervention and put them in Chicken Rehab!
I have 10 10 week old chicks that have been eating medicated starter grower. Recently I started throwing cracked corn on the ground for them and let them free range now that I have the coop finished. Theyh are under trees and in a pretty dog proof fence and so far no troubles. If they run out...
You never think you have done a good enough job keeping your girls safe. They are in the coop all alone...poor girls. I may put up heat seeking missles and radar...hire mercenaries to watch over them. We'll know tomorrow....hah! I'll go out in an hour and check them.
