Half Empty Incubator-Should I fill it?

They are. Do I need to change the humidty/temp? (I don't think so but its the first time I'd be attempting a mixed hatch.)

Half Empty Incubator-Should I fill it?

I am picking up duck eggs on Saturday but won't have enough to fill my incubator. I might be getting chicken eggs next week (trying to turn them down since I only have the one 'bator but it might end up me or the frying pan if my friend can't find a broody hen) so there's a possibly the other...

    Incubation progress of Muscovy eggs

I should have taken a picture. It looked kinda like the one Kathy posted a few pages back, but smooth and pink rather than scabbed over. By the end of the day half of it had gone down and it looked like it would close fine. He just always seemed to be flailing about, like he was running from...

    Incubation progress of Muscovy eggs

Must have unzipped around noon. He'd drug a long stringer of what looked like half-cooked scrambled egg through the incubator before it broke off. His umbilical was swollen and sticking way out-I cleaned him off and put iodine on the umbilical. He made it till this evening when he started...

He's only got one spot-shouldn't he have two? (I realized today I've never looked under their skirts until they were older. Yes, I feel very dumb today)

oh...um...what do you do when their bottoms get plugged up? Struggling to get a pic up-it looked like a hard, black pebble is...stuck. I've worked with pasty butts but this is new to me.

    Incubation progress of Muscovy eggs

The humidity is at 86 degrees on the wet bulb. Speaking of, what is your favorite thermometer/hydrometer gizmo? I'm upgrading before setting the next batch but have no idea what to go with.

    Incubation progress of Muscovy eggs

Here he is: I think he's doing a better job at pecking at the inner shell-when he taps I can hear and feel the vibration through the shell. And its more of a thunk than a tap.I'm hoping he pops out tomorrow. I'll have to figure out a good "fool" name.

He'll have to get in line-his brother is already trying to climb out of the brooder.

    Incubation progress of Muscovy eggs

Yes! But its not round anymore, now its just pointy beak! Once it gets darker I'll candle and try and get a pic to compare. They are muscovys and I only have the two eggs. I started a dozen but 4 days in my thermometer went haywire-I panicked and started adjusting the temperature thinking the...
