Coturnix Quail Basics- Information and Pictures Galore

Is anyone near me? (South Florida east coast west palm beach area) that would want to trade a boy for a girl or let me come buy and pick up a few girls. I think when I bought my three baby quails two months ago they were boys! No eggs and I'm guessing that's why!!! Haha is there a way to sex them?

    FLORIDA!!!!!ALWAYS SUNNY SIDE UP!!!

Ok down in south Florida where cold is RARE. So in saying that, I have three hens, three muscovy and three quail. It will go down to 30's tonight. Should I do anything to keep them from freezing to death ...if they are going to in the first place?

    The Duck Thread

Yes I have a fairly large coop that I will release them to once they are done with brooding. Then I will wait until they lay their spring eggs (if female) and then introduce them to their new pond where many other mallards and flock are. Or better yet find someone local who will want.

    The Duck Thread

That's what I thought. I guess I can release them after a few weeks of nurture? They're not really liking us lol. Very scared of us. Anyhow, I'll do my research but wondering if they lay pretty well? Maybe we will keep. But at this point just wanting them to be healthy and pretty!

Coturnix Quail Basics- Information and Pictures Galore

Ok now I'm feeling dumb. HA. Yes, i get it now. Thats so sad. Ok so my coop would be WAY to high for them. I am thinking of trying to keep them in the smaller chicken coop with the ramp. Are they community birds? They like to live in groups? I think it was mentioned 1 bird per 1 sq foot right?

Do they go up the ramp? This is similar to what I have within my run as well. It was used for my chickens. But was thinking of using it for my quail only with the chickens just using the covered run. Because that would be ideal.
