I cannot offer any advice on if coconut vinegar is a viable replacement for ACV, sorry. However, you could always make your own ACV - and unless you bother to remove it yourself, it will have a mother and be undistilled.
It is quite easy, but takes several weeks so it would not be a quick...
I look every time I go by... and I make several trips "by" just to look. Glad I put in a nice big window!
Thanks for the heads up, and good luck with this little one.
This is my first time incubating, and I have been SO nervous about my temperature and stability. I am pretty sure I have stuck a thermometer in ever possible empty spot. The digital one that tracks highs/lows has had a reading of 100/99 most every time, and I still just can't seem to believe...
I had an exceptionally generous seller - I ordered 6 and she sent me 13! How's that for extras? I expect to see lots and lots and chick pics once hatching starts this month!!
How funny... I have almost the same situation on my hands :) I ordered eggs, and the seller included three mystery eggs - also bantam-sized. I look forward to finding out what they are!
Eggs arrived today! They are settling, and the sinkubator is fired up and has been steady as a rock. This will be my first hatch, so excited!
From left to right:
8 Swedish Flower Hens
2 Olive-Eggers
3 Mystery Eggs
The unidentified ones are quite a bit smaller, so I am thinking a bantam...
You must have crossed them really hard, because they did show up right before the PO closed today! I have no idea what kind of scenic adventure they went on, but the packaging job was A+ and they are all in good shape and settling so I can throw them in first thing in the morning. Maybe one will...
They got out in what should have been plenty of time, had a wonderful seller who communicated thoroughly. My tracking hasn't been updated in 3 days, however, so I can only assume they are lost in transit out there somewhere... Hopefully they still come in (if a little late), I just won't have...
Glad to hear your roo seems to be doing better. I just wanted to pop by and say thank you for sharing, and thank you to all those that helped you. This was a very insightful little thread, and I will keep it in mind if I ever run into a similar issue.
Welcome to BYC! You won't find a friendlier or more sharing chicken community.
American Eskimo dogs are wonderful, one of the best (and hairiest, lol) dogs I ever had... we never got another, I don't think we could ever top the one we had the fortune of loving!
LOL... Well, at least I don't feel so alone.
I try very hard, but catch myself going on chicken-tangents all the time. I can always rely on my mother to be just as feather-headed as me though, so at least I have one person who is never sick of it!
Very interesting! What are your costs for feed by mixing yourself? Is it more expensive or comparable to buying an organic feed? I assume the veggies come from your mentioned garden, but do you grow any of the grains?
Sorry for all the questions (I could think of more lol), I am super interested!
Greetings all!
I am a long time animal lover and caretaker, but am a little late getting into chickens. Of course now I can't figure out what took me so long! I have been a BYC lurker for a long time. Time to stop being such a wallflower. We have the fortune of the Joshua Tree National Park...
