You're right about them not being turkeys but they are a large breed bantam from what the picture shows and are some sort of bearded breeds (some examples are amercauna, easter egger, salmon faverolle, arucuana) so you might want to post a better picture so I can identify them.

I believe the proper term of something of this color is "Blue Laced Red"

Its defintley a type of bearded breed maybe D'Uccle or Salmon Faverolle but defintley not cochin type at all. About the gender it is a cockrel (male)
