I have two hens that were attacked by a predator early this morning, they will not lift their heads but their injuries do not look that severe. They have some puncture wounds and missing feathers but no gaping wounds. Any suggestions?
I am in TX where it is currently 70 with a forecasted low of 50 this week. I moved my brooder to the back porch with a heat lamp and I plan to cover it at night. Do you think three 2 wk old barred rock's should do okayor should they remain in the house?
I think I am going to pull them, all 5 hens have been sitting on the eggs nonstop the past two weeks(I don't see them move, but they have not starved so they must go out and eat when I am not around), I can't really tell who is "mama" to who, I have considered just moving the roo to another coop...
I went to the coop this morning to find my 5 broody hens have hatched at least 3 chicks. My roo tried attacking me when I opened the door...they all seem very protective but this is the first time I have had serama chicks.... Should I leave them with the flock or take them out to a brooder?
