I have 11 total chickens.
Six Buff Orpingtons and 5 Gold Laced Wyandotte’s. Two of the Wyandotte’s are jerks. They appear to be #2 and #3 in the pecking order. They go out their way to peck the lower chickens, apparently for no reason at all.
The reason why I’m posting is that I know a guy who...
I have 11 girls; 6 buff orpingtons and 5 gold laced wyandots. They will be two years old this month.
Speckles is a buff Orpington. She is definitely toward or at the bottom of the pecking order. She’s the sweetest thing.
I don’t know what brought this on, however early this week, I found several...
I have a mix of Buff Orpingtons and Gold Laced Wyandottes; 11 girls total.
So my chickens are only laying 2-4 eggs a day on average.... which is fine, they need a break. It’s 5* out right now!!!
My question is, do I continue with layer feed, or do I switch to non-layer feed? They have OSC on...
A friend has purchased a home, and four feathered friends sealed the deal....
any idea what breed(s), and are all layers, I’m assuming?
thanks for your assistance!!!
I have an 18 month old Buff Orpington, who has been laying shell-less or very thin shelled eggs for a month or so.
I have 12 total 18 month old BO and Gold Laced Wyandottes.
“Shy” is definitely at the bottom of the pecking order, she’s my sweetheart. Overnight it appears that an egg broke coming...
I have a mixed flock of 12. Half Buff Orpingtons and half Gold Laced Wyandotte. All are 18 months old. The last couple of weeks, their egg size has become way smaller, especially compared to their huge eggs late Fall and early Spring.
All seem healthy and no change in diet from that time.
8x8x8...
I had one chicken die overnight, Pnut.
Three others wouldn’t leave the roost, won’t eat and just stand or lay with their eyes closed.
If I take the dead bird to the vet in the morning, I’m sure he’ll look at it... should I freeze her now or no?
What can I do to help the sick three, please.
I...
I need to deworm my 13 girls starting tomorrow. I purchased the Safe-Guard 10% paste.
I plan to give them .23ml per pound, per bird, for 5 days. Which seems like 1/4 to 1/3 of a teaspoon depending on bird size.
My big question is, how???
I heard suggestions to feed in a piece of bread?
Any other...
Can someone please advise what I should use for a wormer?
I have never wormed them before.... 13 girls that are 15 months old.
I’ve noticed some weight loss in a few, pale combs and today a couple of head shaking. Also egg production down to 7-9 a day. Does the worm treatment also rid any...
I have a 15 month old Buff Orpington. She’s always been the most outgoing. This morning she didn’t want to leave her roosting bar, doesn’t walk around and acts extremely lethargic. I’ve separated her into a small cage. She looks completely normal.
She doesn’t want to eat anything, she’s taken a...
I’ve had an issue with a 15 month old Buff Orpington laying shell-less eggs for the last 2-3 weeks.
I have 13 chickens so I wasn’t sure if I could ID which one, but the mess on her butt was a give away.
She seems to act completely normal otherwise.
What can I do?
Is it contagious?
She’s such...
One of my Gold Laced Wyandottes looked like this today. She’s acting fine, but it looks like she’s lost feathers around her face and back of the neck?
Thanks!!!
I have a girl who has been separated from her 12 sisters for the past three weeks due to surgery. She had bumblefoot and a secondary infection. The group is eight months old and are Orpingtons and Wyandottes.
I hope to reintroduce her on Tuesday... any helpful hints would be most appreciated...
One of my girls had bumblefoot, and quickly developed a secondary infection on both sides of her foot.
A Vet operated last week, but we won’t talk about that $450.
Anyway, she needs to take 1/2 of an antibiotic pill twice a day.
For the first few days it was fine, break into quarters and hide...
I get this sometimes; or maybe all the time and just don’t notice it?
What is it, and is it in all eggs, commercial eggs as well?
My girls are seven months.
Orpingtons and Wyandottes.
Thanks!!
With pouring rain all day, and the upcoming snowy harsh weather ahead, I’d like to get a list of great in-the-coop ideas to thwart the squabbling!
It’s a loooong winter here in the northeast....
What’s your favorite?!
Thanks!!!
I have a couple girls who have a very small scab on the bottom of their feet.
I am assuming this is a mild case of bumblefoot?
I removed the scab, I really can’t get much out... is this because nothing is there, or because the hole isn’t large enough to take out the infection?
Does that mean...
