I recently got these 2 hens and wondered what breeds (or breed mixes) they might be. The Dutch looking girl has pink/yellow legs so I was thinking mix. Rosecomb looking one has several points on her comb....any ideas?
I have a 3 month old Polish pullet who I found laying in the coop, very lethargic. It's been very hot, but today it was cloudy and not much sun. I brought her in, fed her some water with vitamin supplements and put her near the AC to cool off. Upon examination, I can't feel a crop AT ALL, and...
Crop feels normal, soft and "bean-baggy". Im almost certain this is some kind of neurologic behavior. It is a very robotic, repetitive turning, like a tick or "posturing" and cant be controlled. She goes RIGHT back to acting perfectly normal. She does the turning 3-4 times then the whole...
I just got 2 Silkie chicks that are about 2 weeks old. They are healthy, happy, eating and drinking but I keep seeing one of them turn her head back and forth slowly, like she is saying "no" when she gets a drink. It looks like something nuerological when she does the movement, but she only does...
We got these guys for our broody hen at the flea market today. We were told they were a type of Game Fowl, but were not specific (bantam/standard/color)[/IMG]

About how old is my new, Splash, bearded Silkie Chick? I was in such a chicken euphoria when we got it, that I can't remember what the breeder told me! And, too early to sex?
I had a couple Rhode Island Reds, which are great. Gave good eggs but tended to be shy, and free ranged out of sight in our large yard most of the day. THEN....we got some Bantams (Cochins'frizzled'). Wow! What an amazing surprise! They were sweet, and TAME and eat from our hands. They love...
