One hen just hatched, one broody....only one broody coop

Yes, I have a 3 week old chick. I'm afraid to move it and Mama and into the big coop, should I not be? Will she help the baby fight them off if they peck at it? The bigger girls peck at my current broody when she comes out to eat, but only for a minute or two. If not feeding layer feed, should...

One hen just hatched, one broody....only one broody coop

I have two Silkies. One went broody about 6 weeks ago. We weren't prepared and only had one egg to put under her, but it hatched! We moved her into the smaller coop just days before the hatch where she has stayed since. Now we the other Silkie is broody and sitting on 6 of her eggs! Let me...

Move broody Silkie inside or not? And ? about feed.

When would you recommend bringing her in, before she hatches? And then how long should we keep them all inside before letting them out with the big girls? Thanks so much!

Move broody Silkie inside or not? And ? about feed.

I have a Silkie sitting on 2 eggs, been about 10 days now. She is currently in the big coop with the rest of the flock. Should we move her to our smaller coop once hatched or even inside or just leave her where she is? I'm afraid if we move her with her babies in the smaller coop she won't be...

    Neem Oil

I'm considering using Neem Oil for mites with our chickens. Does anyone know if this brand from TSC is safe to use on chickens or in and around the coop?

    Worming Question

Can you use Wazine or (another product) to worm individual chickens? All the info I see is to put it in the water. Two of my hens are lethargic, skinny and not laying the others are totally fine. I want to only worm the ones with symptoms, is there a way to do this?? TIA

    Silkie Roo with limp. Mareks?

We have a frizzle silke roo, aprox 6 mos old who presented with a limp yesterday. He doesn't want to put pressure on his right leg. No obvious signs of injury, bumble foot, etc. He does pull his leg back when I palpate the joint. His wings are pointed down most of the time. He made his way up...

Sick hens, what is the matter?

Worms sound like the culprit. They eat a layer feed from a local mill. They are outside all day in their fenced in 500 sq foot yard. Is the Rooster Booster just as effective as the others?

Sick hens, what is the matter?

I have 2 hens that are just puny. One is a RIR the other is an EE. Both are about 5-6mos old. They stand around in their outdoor "hut" with droopy tail feathers, close their eyes and are generally lethargic. The EE has been acting this way on and off for weeks. One day I think it's her last...

Any guess which girl this is from?

I have a SLW who has been acting as if she is working on her first egg, so I've been checking on them frequently. I also have 2 Silkies that are the same age, but haven't shown any signs of laying. My RIR girls have found the nest and laid a couple of nice big light brown eggs, so I know it's not...

Treat the whole flock for Coccidiosis?

Thanks so much! And should they all continue to eat the medicated chick food?

Treat the whole flock for Coccidiosis?

Pretty sure one of our Silkies has Coccidiosis. We have a flock of 9 that we just got on Sunday. They are from 5-7 weeks old. The breeder said she had not given them any vaccines and they have been eating non-medicated feed. Noticed last night that she was huddled in the corner, puffed up with...
