I acquired a group of chicks a few days ago. This particular chick has an issue with her legs and I’m not sure if it’s a deformity, dislocation, break that healed bad, or what. Her right leg is twisted nearly backward and drags behind her. When she tries to stand her legs want to splay. I...
Excellent, I'll cut some cardboard to block off the nesting box and try to stick them back under her. I have chick starter and water, with rocks for safety, next to her already. Thank you!!
It's pretty cold today and my broody hen's two new chicks wandered out of the coop and into the run without her. She's still on the nest. I brought them in under a heat lamp but will she take them back? Ideally I would have liked to put them back under her but there's no guarantee they won't...
Thanks for asking.
She's still in quarantine and today will be a full week on antibiotics. After about the third day I could see the white mass was shrinking in size. It's all gone now, thankfully, but I'm going to have her ride out the next few days alone and will allow her back in to the...

As it stands, I've rinsed it with saline and she's now quarantined in our spare coop. I'm considering adding antibiotic to her water in the morning.
I'll post if...
I've scoured the internet and found a few pictures that led me back to BackYard Chickens, but no resolution was ever posted. Does anyone have any idea what this is and how I can help her?
About her:
She's a year old, free ranges part of the day, is in a clean coop with shavings, eats pellet...
Thanks for the info aart. Out of curiosity, is the behavior of the new chicken "normal"? The extreme fear and running away? Shouldn't she be chest bumping and working to establish her order even if it is the bottom? Or is she aware she's outnumbered and just petrified? She runs like a scaredy...
A friend of mine showed me one of her chickens that wasn't doing well in her flock. This chicken was the roosters favorite and had a bald patch on her back and neck, walked with a limp, and was relentlessly picked on by the other hens. She was hiding under the coop ladder when I first saw her...
