Every wk. it’s a lot but I sell my eggs. You can go in anytime of yrs and see clean coops.
I have big coop holds 50 chickens and a med coop holds 25 30. Birds. They go in what one they want. Two brooders. One for pulleys one for chicks.
I have hens hatch all my eggs and raise them. It’s so much easier. Even guineas. Hens r wonderful mother’s. But not the other way around. Ducks r good moms guineas r not!
I Give them layer pellets when I Move them into the hatching box area, big coop general population. Around 5 months Unless they start before laying before. when they r mature and I know they r going to start laying.
More then three. How long have u been getting a couple eggs a day. Ok listen if one chicken lays in a weird spot they all lay. Always need to keep an eye out. Take all the eggs even a weird spot. If one keeps doing leave them in for a couple days put golf balls in nest boxes. So they know hay...
Yes get new chicks ASAP. Always keep a cover and secure them top and sides from all proctors! Cats dogs raccoons coyotes foxes ect. They r babies they have no defense without there mother.
yah pastry butt. Put olive oil on the butt after cleaning, so nothing sticks and they eat it it helps...
where is there coop to roost in at night? They needed a coop with a sliding door for food and water. They go out during the day to scratch..If takin its a coyotes or fox. They r eating them..
It’s both the weather and sun.. they use all the energy to stay warm.. and stop laying after the day gets shorter. If u have a streak of warm weather they might lay a day or two..
I put a light in the coop, with timer to come on 430 to sun comes up.. yes am not pm.. tricks them for more light...
Wait a couple days, as long as the chicks moving it’s ok.. with that said the other chick will push eggs around (mom would). but opening the incubator is a no no the first couple days. let’s heat humidity out..worse for the others cHicks , so don’t it. (Never count your chicks till they r...
Do deep bedding in winter for warmth.. just keep turning the top best u can. Then add. Even in winter your still going to have to clean it when it starts turn smelling really bad. That can kill them.. put out in pen. Put more on top.. smaller the coop with reason will stay warm easier..
No it’s from scratching and got cut.. and got infected. It hurts them. I just found one of my birds with it. Pulled the plug but no kernel.. been soaking and getting puss. Going to put prid on it. I hope it helps.
I have two roosters. The dominant one is in charge. but my flock is about 80 birds. Plenty To go around. But when paths cross, or one gets ones favorite hens, well a fight. But I only keep a couple roosters (Males) will defend there hens, warn against danger.. will defend the hens to the death..
