    This "girl" is approximately 4-5 months old. Her breed is Ameracauna. She is a runt. I'm concerned about her neck feathers. The other 2 Ameracaunas we got with her have smooth feathers on their necks. Should I be concerned? Thanks in advance.

    UPDATE It is both eyes. She's very quiet, standing in one spot. She usually doesn't like to be held, but didn't fight me when I picked her up.

    I noticed an eye issue today with one of my Gold Sex Links. She's keeping her eyelid closed on 1 eye. There's no drainage or lesions. I think she's having trouble seeing because she is just standing in one spot and didn't come when I put a new flock block out. She looks healthy otherwise...

    I have 8 hens, 2 RIR and 6 Gold Sex Links. 7 have been laying since August. I have never gotten 8 eggs. I know the reds are laying, not sure which of the golds is not. Can hens just not have any eggs to lay? I'm a newbie chicken owner. Thanks for information.

    I have 8 hens. 2 RIR and 6 Gold Comets. We have been getting between 6-7 eggs a day. So do I have a hen that's a dud?? I know for sure that both RIRs are laying. Do I need to worry about the one that's not laying yet or is she just slow?

    We have 8 hens. We've been getting 4-5 eggs a day. Yesterday we got 6, today 4. I have a question......does each chicken lay 1 egg a day or do some lay more than one egg a day? I'm sure you can tell, I'm new to chickens!! :lol:

    Yes.....it's hot here in South Louisiana too! My girls love watermelon and grapes! I try to offer them different snacks but it seems those are their favorites.

    Chicken Names- whats your chickens name?

    Our RIRs are Camilla and Evangeline. We have 6 gold sex links we are in the process of naming. One is definitely Olive. I've made a list of favorite Cajun/Creole names for the rest. I just have to assign the names. I love seeing everyone's chicken names!!
