Just a note on DE diatomaceous earth (food grade)
Don't breath too much or it can give a person a allergy type reaction .
But it's good for many things chicken based .
I use (DE) diatomaceous earth [food grade) dries up everything that would cause a stink .
I clean my Coop and run bi-weekly and I avoid the stereotype smells that are associated with chicken raising.
"A clean coop makes happy chickens and happy chickens make happy eggs"

Update , as the temperature dropped the egg production betterd the pullet that was laying soft eggs managed to lay a hard shelled egg , but it was deformed "but hard" i had two solid days of laying 4 birds 3-4 eggs a day.
Just an update , the weather cooled and i changed the type (brand) of oyster shell and low and behold my girl layed a hard egg , was a bit deformed but it was hard none the less.
We're about to have another heat wave for a few days so i hope it doesn't mess up her cycle all over again.
Well this morning when i was putting the frozen bottles that i use to keep the coop cool in the coop there was another soft shelled egg in the run and that was around 5:30 am,

Don't feel bad , my 4 barred rocks will compete with my black lab to see who gets the first dropped crumb on the patio whenever we eat out back.
