Does anyone have experience with changing the environment for Pekin duck? Do they adapt well to change? Also, if a Drake has been raised with a female mate and is moved to live with two males, how well will that work?
Oh the poor female!! I wouldn't want to add Daisy to the mix with only one female . Where in Dunkirk are you located? I live in Lexington Park but do a lot of work in Calvert County. I would love to come by sometime and see your set up if that would be okay.
Have you checked the farmers market...
He is still in need of a home. Thank you so much! I'm just curious what sex your Pekins are? I know he is going to be lost without Oleander, his female companion, and I have been told if Inout him with another female he will take to her. He doesn't like for me to have Oleander out of his sight...
Yes, Daisy is still available. My HOA will not allow me to keep the ducks any longer, so unfortunately I have to find a new home for him. Where are you located in Maryland?
I have not. I have not found any sanctuaries. I did contact a couple farms in Maryland that raise poultry for the eggs but they weren't interested. One doesn't have Pekins and didn't want to Mix breeds.
Dumping him in the wild??? Where did that come from? That never came from me so you might want to check your facts. I can not have the ducks any longer as my HOA has told me I have to get rid of them. It just so happens that my female is also injured.
Thats why I haven't listed him on Craigslist. I did contact two people who have Pekins and sell the eggs on Craigslist but they weren't interested. I would never let someone take him without first visiting their home and see their living quarters
I found two people on Facebook that have Pekins but neither are interested in taking in another and I have put messages on my FB page, online yard sale pages and a poultry swap page but no luck yet. Thank you for the advice!!
Hi, I am searching for a new home for my 3 year old drake Pekin, Daisy. He is a spoiled pet that has free range of my back yard, along with his mate Oleander. Oleander injured herself and never healed right and our vet has recommended that I put her down. I also happen to live in a small...
