Eggs in 90 degrees for 1-2 weeks

While on vacation for 2 weeks, neighbors fed our hens and collected the eggs. We asked them to take and use the eggs, but they instead collected them in our kitchen. Unfortunately, our AC went out and approximately 30 eggs were exposed to 90 degree temperature indoors for 1-2 weeks. I soooooo...

Australorp cockerel or pullet? 5 months old

She crowed again this morning--"ka-kaw!" "Ka-kaw!" ... Then started making the sounds my hens make. Surely she would have started sooner than 23 weeks old if she were a cockerel? Could this be one of those random crowing hens?

Australorp cockerel or pullet? 5 months old

5 months old. Huge red comb and waddles, rounded neck feathers, no obvious saddle feathers, but heard a "ka-kaw!" this morning for the first time. It normally clucks like the other girls. Has not laid an egg yet, but has shown interest in the nesting box though. The fastest and most skittish of...

When to start layer? 15 weeks and still on chick feed.

Previously used H and H old fashioned layer non GMO for my production red. Let her hatch and raise some chicks, and they've all been eating chick feed since birth 15 weeks ago. Stay with chick feed until 20 weeks? Recommendations on brand of layer feed? Previously disappointed with the H and H...

    Australorp or Jersey Giant Roo?

15 weeks since hatch. Egg from Meyers. Long tail feathers but pale comb and wattles at 15 weeks. Cannot tell if it's a he or a she, or whether an australorp--Bottoms of feet are light blackish, not yellow.

Little oddball chick; help me identify?

Reminds me of how my Henrietta looked at approx. 1 week: Here is Henrietta today at approx. 7 weeks--I posted her pic, and there was one guess that she was possibly an Old English Game Bantam, but two others could not discern her breed yet: Good luck--I'll be interested to see how yours...

Approx. 7 week old chicks -- breed and gender thoughts?

Purchased these cuties straight run from Wabash Feed in Houston last month. Any ideas on breeds and gender? 1. Chuckles here is looking like a cockerel, likes to flare his hackles occasionally, and has treated us to a throaty crow a time or two. Pretty sure he's a cockerel, but any thoughts...
