About how much niacin should be added? And...is that the same thing as Brewer's yeast?

For the new folks that haven't experienced a molt yet.

One of my 18 month old hens went into a hard molt this morning. Good thing I saw this post because I freaked out when I saw all the feathers in the coop. I thought for sure there would be a chicken carcass laying around. It looked like a pillow fight gone wrong. About how long does it take...

Easter Egger Sexing "tips and tricks" *Pictures Included*

Yeah, I know. He's a horrible crower. I just thought I'd show the difference between him as a chick and what he looks like now. I posted his pics while he was growing up earlier on.

She's finally growing a tail!!! The rest of her feathers are finally coming in as well. I was beginning to wonder if she would need a chicken wig! :)

What do you have in your flock?

I started off with 7 "onesies" as we were only going to get seven chickens (for pets/eggs) and we thought we might as well pick some that were cold hardy/heat tolerant and pretty to look at. We also wanted them to have fairly docile personalities. We had RIRs in the past and they were just...

What do you have in your flock?

Our "meal Maker" turned out to be a white leghorn. I wasn't excited about it at first but she is the loveliest white bird. She resembles a dove more than a leghorn. She also has the sweetest temperment of any leghorn we've ever had.

What breed are these Ideal Hatchery Bantam chicks?

After looking at the Brown Red OE, it certainly looks like a possibility. With all the orange on Nibbles, it would seem to be a boy though, which is okay.

What breed are these Ideal Hatchery Bantam chicks?

Updated: Chinchilla - Blue Quail D'Anver Wisp - Still no real definitive answer - This is Mo, sitting down. Lemon Head (the white laced red cornish pullet is right next to her) Not a great shot but Nibbles is quick. Still don't know (other than OEGB) what color...

Hello! and welcome to the OEGB thread.

Thanks. Chinchilla is definitely not an OEGB. She's a Blue Quail Belgian D'Anver. It's amazing how fast they can change. I still don't know what color Nibbles is but he/she is definitely OEGB

    Salmon Faverolle feathers

DuMor Chick starter/grower. I've got 21 chicks together but none of them are missing any feathers. It also seems strange to me that the areas where there are few feathers are completely symmetrical and don't actually look like they're broken or missing. She still has chick fuzz in those areas...
