Wait - so that means that it will be okay to move them after they hatch? I had it backwards and was going to remove the other hen by blocking off a portion of the coop (and give her a new roosting spot temporarily).
hmmmmm, maybe! I've never seen a snake around here before last week. Then my husband was moving some wood and found a tiny milk snake - don't know if they eat eggs though.
I should add: the coop is 1" chickenwire doubled up over cattle fencing, with hardware cloth in the eves and around the base of the coop (which is raised off the ground). Base is 2x4 buried in earth. Not enough maybe!!
