Sorry it took so long to get back, this has been the craziest chick experience i've ever had. First the picked on chick didn't make it, the lone chick was going crazy all night. I went back to FK first thing this morning to get him a companion, came home with a pecked and bleeding Polish and a...
I'll try it, When DH gets home. He's techno-boy. I'm clueless. I'm also going to ask him to try to make a diivider out of maybe sometime of screen material, he's also extremely handy. I thought the clear, something like plexi glass was a good idea, but I know he won't cut a piece for this. I'm...
Let me mention that they were marked as Golden Phoenix, which I have zero experience with. I have cochin, brahma and salmon faverolle adults which I raised from chicks, never had one single picker. I have the pick-on in a clear bowl in the box, the other one going totally nuts. I hope they sleep...
from my Farm King. It's that glorious thing called 'chick days'. They had one all alone in one room, that looked like it had a few minutes to live, and another in a room of probably, 50 day-olds, lying on it's back being chewed on. I got the girl and asked her to put the two of them alone...
Yes, my lab-mix tore his and I panicked and got the surgery for him. It was 4th of July weekend and was $600.00. This was about 10 yrs. ago. My equine vet told me I should have saved my money and just rested him. He limped until he passed. I wouldn't do it again. Hope this helps a little with...
To all that sent kind words of encouragement; I am currently licking my wounds and trying to put the pieces back together. So, for now my flock, and I are staying where we are. I don't know what tomorrow will bring, but I'm trying to keep it all together. Thankyou so much for the good wishes and...
I love coming to my computer to hear from you all. Like I said it does comfort. I'm sick, my cat is sick, I'm looking for other plans on Thanksgiving, I will be leaving my beloved Chihuahua behind "Chili" because he loves Greg best, thought that was the right thing to do for "Chili" although I...
:(Sadly, I have to let go of my chickens. 1 Patridge Cochin rooster w/3 hens. 1 Light Brahma hen. 6 Salmon Faverolle hen. All are 19 mos. old. They are pretty and healthy.
Thank you to all who have written, for whatever the reason I find comfort in reading the responses, this is a huge undertaking, and the kind words make me cry. Debbie
I will have to place my chickens. The man I thought loved me, says he doesn't anymore[after 6 1/2 yrs.] and wants me to move out. Like I said in my reply to Bantymum, I'm not just broken but stunned. I live in his home in the country and will have to move to the city where my family is, he likes...
I remember well the "divorce/breakup diet" can't eat, can't sleep, it reallky sucks. It will probably take between 10-14 days before you feel like smiling again, but you will smile again! As you can tell from this large response it happens alot and we survive it. You will too, and you will...
I'm going thru the same stuff right now. It is simply the worst feeling. I'm heartbroken and quite frankly, stunned. I'm not looking forward to the coming days, of waking up every morning and remembering,"oh yeah, this is not just another day." It is the end of life as I knew it. But I do know...
I use sweet Barn Lime in my run, I have very sandy ground and turn it into the sand for odors and then sprinkle some on the surface after I've tilled up what I want and have zero problems, have healthy happy chix.
I also put ice in the waterers and hang frozen water bottles in front of the fan, frozen treats I hope, also make them feel better. ie. mixed vegetables and frozen chopped cukes.
Being from Chicago, I was happy to find and then try frozen White Castle Hamburgers. They were suprisingly wonderful. Found at most Aldis store and Kroger.
I'm wondering where you live, I live in West Central Ill. and especially now since the flooding we are having an extreme problem with Buffalo Gnats. I lost an adult Lt. Brahma this morning due to the gnats. They bother their faces and can suffocate them. Sorry
Is anyone else having a terribled time with gnats. I think these are Buffalo gnats and they are relentless. My chickens won't come out of their coop. They try and within 30 seconds they run back in. Any ideas on when it may end? We live in West Central Ill.
