Thanks for responding. I, like you, am also disappointed in these chicks. They were at my Post Office in just over 24 hours and I picked them up right away so not long in receiving them.
Noticing you are in New Hampshire and I am in the South so can't be same Post Offices unless the initial...
Hi Y'all
I received 4 chicks from Meyer mid-October (2 Australorps, 1 Bielefelder, 1 Lavender Orpington). When they arrived I noticed immediately that they were constantly scratching, all 4 of them, it was pretty much non-stop. They were falling over losing their balance because they just...
I've heard and experienced just the opposite. Mt. Healthy has excellent chickens, lively, healthy. Everyone I know that's ordered from them has been very happy and some (looking for more chickens), have re-ordered from them.
People still want to bring up the salmonella outbreak from 2014 -...
Hi,
I'm no longer in Georgia (need to change my profile!) but am about 3 1/2 hours from you in Belton, S. Carolina.
I have 2 Bielefelder Roosters hatched January 31, 2023 so almost a year old. They are from Omega Hills Farm as are the 5 Bielefelder hens I have.
I also have 4 Bielefelder hens...
Hi,
I have this breed (2 Roosters, 5 hens, 4 pullets). Bought my starter flock from Omega Hills Farm (5F, 3M is how he sells, gave 1 Roo to my daughter). Then ordered 4 Females from Cackle as wanted the M/F ratio to be better & was concerned if I lost a Roo I would be in bad shape (my...
Hi,
I've owned all breeds (except Buckeyes) that you've mentioned. This is my experience with them:
Welsummers - better for free ranging though they will tolerate confinement. Not aggressive to other chickens or humans. Friendly but not lap chickens. Of the breeds you listed, this is the...
I have Isbar hens, no rooster but I absolutely love them. They are friendly but not lap chickens, quiet though a couple are really proud of their eggs! They lay extremely well year round; the eggs vary from a blue green to a tan green. If you search Alchemist Farm in California she has alot of...
Cackle does state that their Salmon Faverolles are not the strongest so you might want to take that into consideration. Picking up vs. shipping will be a big advantage though. Good Luck!
I've had spiral leg bands on my Welsummers for about 6 months and never had a problem with any of them trying to pull them off. The different colors have helped considerably to identify each of the girls. I like the fact that they are not too tight yet don't come off.

1 breed was my intention (got Isbars) but I loved the look of Welsummer eggs so added that breed (and not disappointed in them at all). Then a few weeks ago I bought 3 3-month old non-crested Swedish Flower Hens pullets just because they're cool looking and also 3 month old Bielefelder pullets...
