I don't know of any local breeders for you but this is a great list you have put together. I got my eggs from Cedarcrest farm and feed in Ohio. They did great on shipping, I had a wonderful hatch rate, and my birds are perfect! Good luck in your search.
Yes, the batch I hatched, the eggs were small. The chicks hatch small too. Not as small as Bantams, but they are small. I also had one egg in my clutch that was larger and that was the one egg that didn't hatch. Good Luck with your hatch. :)
I have two Jubillee hens and they are the same way! They refuse to socialize with the rest of my flock. They are always together and always want to be left alone. They also won't roost with the rest of my girls. They sleep squished together in a nesting box.
Hi, congratulations on your new chickens! I am close to you, only in Milford. I do not keep water in my chickens coop over night. They have free access to food and water in their run all day and I also give them free range time. I do cover the run with greenhouse plastic in the winter for added...
Has anyone bought feed from pleasant view farms? They are local, in Somers.
I haven't yet but plan to try it next time I need feed and scratch. I noticed they sold it at Benedict's in Monroe. Non-gmo but not organic from what I was told. Have you tried it yet? :)
My Buff Orpingtons are now 16 weeks old and I am anxiously waiting. I still have a little while longer to go but their combs are starting to turn more red . I also have 3 Jubilee Orpingtons that are a bit younger so I will be waiting on them too.
I live in Milford and we are allowed 5-10 hens depending on what residential zone the house is in. Also no roosters allowed. Great idea making the map! :)
Currently a breeder is selling Jubilee Orpington pullets on Craigslist for $30 each. As of last night, I still saw the ad listed. I just got 3 of them for my flock and all seem to be very healthy so far. He was located in Hamden. Hope this helps. :)
Hi all,
I know its kinda late in the year but I figured I would still ask. I live in the new haven county area (can drive to pick them up) and was wondering if anyone has any buff orp/barred rock/rir or other brown egg layer chicks (females) for sale or knew of a breeder that might.
Thanks...

Hi,
I ordered my first flock from mypetchicken.com. I have 6 Buff Orpingtons that are now 5 weeks old. In my experience, their customer service was great. Always got a quick reply to email questions. ( I asked a lot of questions! ) I also thought their website was easy to navigate and choose...
I have a total of 6 BO in my flock and this is one of the bigger ones, but since they are still so young (3.5 weeks) I am not noticing a lot of differences. It is also very friendly. Will always run up to me to be held and shows no fear of the dog where the other chicks run away.
Hi, I have my first flock of chicks and am hoping to get some guesses if this is a hen or rooster. 3.5 week old Buff Orpington. Thanks! :) [/IMG][/IMG][/IMG]
