There's a crack and peeping!! I really hope to meet him tomorrow (thinking he is a boy...did the wing test on the other two and they might be girls...I think temperature in the incubator is low). Amazing! I hope he doesn't need help out because I don't feel confident enough to handle that...

Okay...humidity-knowledge challenged over here...how does the salt play into it? Just curious. I googled a bunch amount humidity but didn't follow...I am not very scientific. I like the chart idea. It's amazing how many lessons one can create from this experience! btw...nothing happening...

Thank you for responding. We are leaving it in there for a couple of days. I put a wet wash cloth in there with it...I wasn't sure if I should. She does this every year but has an older styrofoam incubator and she isn't very technical about it (whatever happens, happens). She always has some...

Not sure what topic to put this under...treating pests in the yard where the chickens reside

I will stay away from that product then. I fenced off the area I treated and figured I would wait a week before letting them back into forage there...I just worry about what gets in the soil and how long it stays where they will scratch and peck. Thank you again!

Not sure what topic to put this under...treating pests in the yard where the chickens reside

One more question Do you have any experience with Spreader Sticker (to help the product spread and stick better)? Is it safe to use with the chickens? Treated with 10% Permethrin. Was thinking about retreating to be safe in a few weeks and adding the IGR for that go around. Wondering if I...

Not sure what topic to put this under...treating pests in the yard where the chickens reside

I just googled that and I see there is a spray and a dust. I guess I would have to spray since dusting that high up isn't possible without a cherry picker. How long would you say I would need to keep the chickens away after spraying? Like if it seeps into the soil, would it be unsafe for them...

Not sure what topic to put this under...treating pests in the yard where the chickens reside

I live in Florida (pest capital of the world) have a 12 foot high, 150 foot long ficus hedge in my backyard that has Whitefly. I don't want to lose this hedge! Even though my two chickens are taking care of the pests in ground for me, they are a bit too short to be able to handle the pests...

    No Crow Rooster collar

Hi, we have a 3 month old rooster that we love too. We just put the no crow collar on him today. He is picking at it as we speak! His hen friend is also getting in on the action and trying to help him break free out of it! We were wondering how it worked out for you? Did it end up working...

Total chicken greenhorn! Pullet or roo help!

I am so sad!! There is no way we can keep just the two of them together right? A rooster needs more than one hen to keep him "satisfied", yes? They are attached at the "wing" and I would never separate them. And they are both so sweet and loving and have become part of the family.

Total chicken greenhorn! Pullet or roo help!

My seven year old daughter's class hatched chicks. We brought them home thinking we'd only have them for a couple of months but have fallen in love! No idea what kind they are (mixed Ameraucana, Barred Rock, Wyandotte ???). They will be 3 months old on July 24th. The bigger grey/white one...
