OK, have not seen the bird yet, today. Figures...Great-Nephews from the "city" are here for the day, and we can't find it. They did help me take some pics of the eggs.

Thank you all, for all your help. I saw the pics of the Chukars. I do not see any indication of red beak or legs on mine, though. I am now leaning toward a pheasant.
I did go out and got about a foot and a half from it. It would let me get no closer, but did not run-just walked under the pine...
Oh yeah, still here. The weather is cool and drizzly. It was sitting atop my potato mound, puffed up like a little soccer ball. Other than that, just strutting around, pecking at the ground, and the raspberry bushes.
